How many volumes are there in the Manyoshu?

The earliest extant poetry collection in Japan, with 20 volumes and more than 4,500 poems. The word "Wanye" in the title of the book means "ten thousand words", which means the content is rich and colorful; another means "eternal life", which means that life will last forever. There are different opinions about the author of this book and the year when it was written. The "Man'yoshu" (Man'yoshu) originally written by Osaki (painted on paper) was written by many people in the first half of the 16th century. It was edited many times and was roughly compiled around 760. The poems in "Man'yoshu" can be roughly divided into three categories according to their content: Xiangwen, elegy, and miscellaneous songs. Xiangwen means hearing and asking each other, and is a work that expresses the love between elders and young, the love between men and women, etc.; elegy is a work that mourns the deceased; the range of miscellaneous songs is very wide, including other works that do not fall into the above two categories, and there are also some ballad. In terms of form, it can be divided into four categories: short songs, long songs, rotating head songs, and Buddha's foot stone songs. The authors of "Man'yoshu" range from emperors, concubines, nobles, to peasants, soldiers and even beggars. Representative authors include Otomo Kamochi, Yamayama Yiyang, etc. "Man'yoshu" is one of the important materials for studying ancient Japanese society, and its influence on Japanese literature is even more profound.
