Number chapter 2 1
Numbers 2 1, they set out from Mount Hor, passing through Edom and heading for the Red Sea. The people were very upset because of the hard road, so they blamed God and Moses and said, "Why did you bring us out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no food and water here, and our hearts hate this weak food. " So the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit them. Many people died in Israel. The people came to Moses and said, "We have sinned against the LORD and against you. Pray to the Lord that these snakes will leave us. "So Moses prayed for the people. The LORD said to Moses, "Make a salamander and hang it on a pole. The bitten man lives at a glance at the snake. "Moses made a copper snake and hung it on a post. Anyone who has been bitten by a snake will survive when he sees a copper snake. (Numbers 2 1:4-9 NIV) As promised, God led the people to the wilderness and the land of Canaan, but the hearts of the people only cared about the body, and they completely despised God and did not believe in God. Therefore, God sent the salamander into the camp, killing many people, so that the people can only look up to the bronze snake with confidence to survive. At first glance, the salamander is alive. The copper snake is just a copper block and has no ability. How can we get rid of the poison of salamanders? The bronze snake predicted Jesus Christ, John 3: 14- 15. As Moses lifted the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man will be lifted up, so that all who believe in him may have eternal life. When God leads us on the path of the gospel, we will encounter many situations and difficulties. God should train our hearts through the environment and difficulties, so that our hearts can look to God without looking. Only by relying on faith can we overcome all the environment and difficulties like salamanders and follow God on the path of the gospel.
