Extended data:
Dong Zhongshu (BC 179-BC 104) was born in Guang Chuan (Dongjiazhuang Village, Guang Chuan County, Hebei Province) and was a philosopher of the Western Han Dynasty. Emperor Han Jingdi was a doctor at that time, teaching Ram Spring and Autumn Annals. In the first year of Yuanguang (BC 134), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty issued a letter to seek a general plan for governing the country.
Dong Zhongshu combined Confucianism with the needs of the society at that time in his famous "Countermeasures for Giving Virtue", and absorbed the theories of other schools, creating a new ideological system with Confucianism as the core, which won the appreciation of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty. He systematically put forward such theories as "the connection between heaven and man", "the unity of heaven and man" and "those who are not in the Six Arts and the skill of Confucius will not advance".
The idea of ousting a hundred schools of thought and respecting Confucianism alone was adopted by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, which made Confucianism the orthodox thought of China society and influenced it for more than two thousand years. His research is centered on the patriarchal clan system of Confucianism, mixed with the theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements, and runs through theocracy, monarchical power, patriarchal clan system and husband power, forming an imperial theological system.
