1, wandering songs [Tang Dynasty] Meng Jiao
The mother used the needle and thread in her hand to make clothes for her long-distance son.
Before leaving, I had a stitch for fear that my son would come back late and his clothes would be damaged.
Who can say that a filial child like the weak can repay his mother's love like the sunshine in spring?
Appreciation: This is an ode to maternal love. The whole poem consists of six sentences and three crosses. By recalling a seemingly ordinary scene of mending clothes before he left, he highlighted and praised the greatness and selflessness of maternal love, and expressed the poet's gratitude for maternal love and deep love and respect for his mother. This poem is sincere and natural. Although there is no algae painting or carving, its fresh, smooth, simple and plain language contains rich and mellow poetry, which has been widely read for thousands of years.
2, Si E Yuan [pre-Qin] anonymous
It's me, Polygonum hydropiper. Artemisia argyi is a bandit. Mourn for my parents and give birth to me.
I am a loser, but I am a thief. Mourn for my parents and give birth to me.
It is a pity that the bottle is used up. It is better to die for a long time than to live with fresh people. What if there is no father? What can I do without my mother? Get a shirt when you go out, and you're exhausted when you go in.
My father gave birth to me and my mother bowed to me. Spoil me, cultivate me, nurture me, care about me, go in and out. The virtue of wanting to repay kindness. Heaven is so chaotic!
Nanshan is fierce and the wind is blowing. I don't care, I'm alone! Nanshan method, drifting with the wind. Everyone is in the valley, I'm not alone!
Appreciation: The Preface to Mao's Poems says that this poem "pricks the king, the people work hard, and the dutiful son can't be raised", but only the last sentence is correct. As for "it's hard for the people to stab the king", as Ouyang Xiu said, "it's not the poet's original intention" ("The Original Meaning of Poetry"), the poet just expressed his extreme feeling of being unable to support his adoptive parents.
3. Arrive home at the end of the year [Qing] Jiang Shiquan
I love my son endlessly, and I'm glad to go home. Cold clothes are needle and thread, and letters from home are ink stains.
If you encounter pity, you will ask for it. I am ashamed of the son of man and dare not sigh.
Appreciation: Motherly love is the greatest and most selfless emotion of human beings, but there are not many works expressing this theme in ancient poetry. The most famous is Meng Jiao's Ode to a Wanderer, which shows the love of parents all over the world. Jiang Shiquan's Going Home at the End of the Year depicts maternal love from another angle, which is similar to Meng's poems.
