1, original text
A gentleman is in service, and I don't know its date. Hey (hé) here? Chickens live in shí. In the evening, the cattle and sheep came down. My husband is serving in the distance. How can I think of him? A gentleman is in service, in a few days or months. Is it (yuu) or (huó)? Ji Zhu Jie. At the end of the night, all the cattle and sheep gathered around. If a gentleman is in service, will he be hungry?
2. Translation
My husband is working outside, and I don't know how long the term of office is. When will you go home? The chickens are in the nest, it's getting late, and the cattle and sheep have come back from the pasture. My husband is still serving outside. How can I not miss him? My husband is still serving outside, and the distant future cannot be calculated by days and months. When can we meet again?
The chicken perched on a small stake in the nest. It was getting late, and the cattle and sheep came back from the pasture. My husband is still serving outside, I hope he won't be hungry!
The uniqueness of this poem lies in that it sounded the clarion call against fate in the most simple and grounded way, and awakened the industrious people in Qian Qian to fight for survival. On the other hand, the writing technique of the poem adopts the methods of alternating long and short sentences, asking questions and overlapping words, which makes the whole poem ups and downs, strewn at random, and the feelings contained are more sincere and touching.
The women's psychology in the poem is very detailed and true. When she sees the return of cattle and sheep, she will naturally think of her long-serving husband. She tried her best to suppress this yearning-"a gentleman is in service and I don't know his date." It's useless to miss it. It's better not to miss it. But how to do this? She loves her husband so much that she always thinks of her.
Finally, in desperation, she can only rely on "not hunger and thirst" to pin her deep affection for her husband. The style of this poem is delicate and euphemistic. There is not a word "resentment" in the poem, but every sentence is "resentment", which shows the pain brought by heavy corvee to thousands of families from one side.
