About the author of Baiyangdian Chronicles

Sun Li (1913-2002) was born in Anping, Hebei. Born in Anping County, Hebei Province in 1913, his original name was Sun Shuxun. He once used the pen names Sun Yunfu, Lin Dongping, Tubao, etc. Yunzhai and Gengtang were his study names and also his pen names. Graduated from Baoding Yude Middle School in 1933 as a graduate student. He started working in 1936 and served as a novel teacher in Tongkou Town, Anxin County. After 1939, he participated in the anti-Japanese work. He served as a teacher at Jizhong Anti-Japanese War College, North China United University, Yan'an Lu Xun College of Art and Literature, as well as the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei News Agency, "Jin-Cha-Hebei Daily", Editor of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region Federation of Literary and Art Circles. He experienced the entire process of the Anti-Japanese War and the Third Civil Revolutionary War. In January 1949, he entered Tianjin City, participated in the founding of "Tianjin Daily", and has been doing editorial work in the Ministry of Literature and Art (originally the Supplement Section). He once served as Chairman of the Tianjin Writers Association, Honorary Chairman of the Tianjin Federation of Literary and Art Circles, director and consultant of the first, second, and third sessions of the Chinese Writers Association, and member of the fourth session of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Died in July 2002. Began literary creation in 1927. Before the "Cultural Revolution", his main works included the novel and essay collection "Chronicles of Baiyangdian", the novel "The First Story of Storms", the novella "The Story of Tiemu", as well as literary theory, literary criticism, poetry, etc. After the "Cultural Revolution", his main works were "Ten Types After the Gengtang Tribulation" (10 collections from "Wanhua Collection" to "Qu Finale Collection"). In 2004, "The Complete Works of Sun Li" (***11 volumes) was published. He is the author of the novel "First Records of the Storm" and a collection of novels and essays "Baiyangdian Chronicles". This book has the characteristics and style of the times, is easy to understand, and is worth reading.
