I remember that Du Mu had a song "Sighing Flowers" with this theme.
Sighing Flowers Du Mu
I regret that it is too late to find the flowers.
I saw them in previous years when they were not in bloom.
Now the wind has scattered the flowers,
The green leaves form shades and the branches are full.
Translation:
I hate it! I originally wanted to see the flowers, but it was already too late.
In previous years, I saw this plant before its flowers bloomed.
Now the leaves are swaying in the wind, and the flowers have long since fallen to the ground and rotted...
The green leaves have formed shades, and the branches are covered with fruits.
According to "Chronicles of Tang Poems", Du Mu traveled to Huzhou and saw a girl in her tenth year. He married his mother after dating for ten years. Fourteen years later, Du Mu became the governor of Huzhou. His daughter was married and had two sons. Du Tan wrote this poem! The first sentence "I hate that it's too late to find her" is a metaphor that it was too late when I came to see the girl who was engaged. The second sentence "I met her before we met in the past years." It means that when I came to see her before, she was still a girl. She looks like an innocent girl who is not married. The third sentence "Now the flowers are in a mess" means that she has already married someone else and is no longer the innocent girl waiting for her. The last sentence, "The green leaves are full of shade and the branches are full of branches." It means that she even has a child, and she already has a second child.
