Introduction of Wenzhou Peninsula Project

With the care and support of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government and the correct leadership decision of Wenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Wenzhou Peninsula Project has achieved phased results: Dongtou Wudao Bridge and Hannah Quinlivan Bridge were completed and opened to traffic; The shoal project is under construction.

With the continuous advancement of the peninsula project, Dongtou Island will be formally connected with the mainland, and Millennium Island will become an inseparable and important part of Wenzhou city, making Wenzhou's urban tentacles extend to the blue sea, and the urban pattern will also move from the "Oujiang era" to the "East China Sea era" and from the riverside city to the beautiful coastal city. Wenzhou beach reclamation project is a comprehensive land consolidation and development project, and it is one of the "land-sea docking projects" in our province. This project plans to build two dikes (north dike length 14.5km, south dike length about 23km) on the tidal flat from the east side of Hannah Quinlivan Island in Longwan District to the west side of Niyu Island in Dongtou County, connecting Hannah Quinlivan Island and Niyu Island, covering an area of132,000 mu between the two islands. Among them, the first phase reclamation project of Wenzhou Shoal with an reclamation area of 35,000 mu was stepped up by the Oujiangkou Development and Construction Headquarters. The East and South Embankment projects were completed in April last year, and large-scale reclamation development in the starting area of the peninsula is currently under way.

The second phase reclamation project of Wenzhou Shoal, which started yesterday, is an important part of reclamation project of Wenzhou Peninsula Shoal. Located on the south side of Wenzhou Peninsula Shoal, between Hannah Quinlivan Island in Wenzhou Shoal and Niyu Island in Dongtou County, with a total investment of 423 million yuan and a total construction period of two years. The second phase of the shoal has a total length of 9.397 kilometers, a dam crest elevation of 0.20 meters, a dam crest width of 4 meters and an area of 85,770 mu.

The construction of this project is of great significance to the development and construction of Oujiangkou New Area, which can accelerate the second phase coating and siltation of Wenzhou Shoal, and is conducive to speeding up the second phase reclamation project.
