Appreciation of Zhang Ruoxu’s poetry

Zhang Ruoxu, a poet in the early Tang Dynasty, only had two poems handed down to later generations, and he was good at writing about grievances between friends. The poetic style was inherited from the Qi and Liang Dynasties to the prosperous Tang Dynasty. It played a connecting role in the history of poetry.

"Moonlit Night on the Spring River"

Zhang Ruoxu, Tang Dynasty

The tide of the Spring River reaches the sea level, and the bright moon on the sea rises with the tide.

The glistening waves follow the waves for thousands of miles, but there is no moonlight on the spring river!

The river flows around Fangdian, and the moonlight shines on the flowers and forests like sleet;

The frost is flying in the sky unknowingly, and the white sand on the pavilion cannot be seen.

The river and the sky are completely dust-free, and there is only a solitary moon in the bright sky.

Who by the river sees the moon for the first time? When does the moon over the river shine on people for the first time?

Life is endless from generation to generation, and the moon over the river looks the same year after year.

I don’t know who Jiang Yue treats, but I see the Yangtze River sending water.

The white clouds fade away slowly, and the Qingfeng Pu is full of sorrow.

Whose family is in trouble tonight? Where can I miss the bright moon building?

The poor moon lingers upstairs, and it should be shining on the makeup mirror.

The jade door curtain cannot be rolled away, and it comes back when it is smashed and brushed on the anvil.

At this time, we look at each other but don’t hear each other, and I hope that the moonlight will shine on you.

Swan geese fly long and fast, fish and dragons dive and leap into the water.

Last night I dreamed of falling flowers in the pond, and it was a pity that I didn’t return home in the middle of spring.

The spring water in the river is gone, and the moon has fallen in the river pool and is setting in the west again.

The slanting moon hides the sea fog, and the Jieshi and Xiaoxiang roads are endless.

I don’t know how many people will return home by the moon. The falling moon shakes the trees all over the river with love.

The spring river tide is connected with the sea. The water is so vast that the bright moon on the sea seems to emerge with the tide. The moonlight shines on the Spring River, shining thousands of miles along with the waves. The moonlight fills the river. The river twists and turns around the fields covered with flowers and grass. The moonlight shines on the woods full of flowers, like fine snow beads twinkling.

The moonlight is like frost, so the frost is invisible. The white sand on the island and the moonlight blend together, making it difficult to see clearly. The river and the sky were of the same color, without a trace of dust, and there was only a lone moon hanging high in the bright sky.

Who on the riverside first saw the moon, and in which year did the moon on the river first shine on people? Life is endless from generation to generation, but the moon on the river always looks the same year after year. I don’t know who the moon on the river is waiting for, but I see the Yangtze River constantly sending away water.

The wanderer slowly left like a white cloud, leaving only the missing woman standing in Qingfengpu where she was leaving, feeling extremely sad. Which family's wanderer is drifting in a boat tonight? Where is someone missing someone upstairs where the moon shines? Poor moonlight that keeps moving upstairs should be shining on Li Ren's dressing table.

The moonlight shines through the door curtain of the missing woman and cannot be rolled away. It shines on her clothes-making anvil and cannot be brushed off. At this time, we are looking at the moon, but we can't hear each other's voices. I hope that the moonlight will shine on you.

The swans keep flying, but they cannot fly out of the boundless moonlight; the moon shines on the river, and fish and dragons jump in the water, causing ripples. Last night I dreamed of flowers falling in the pond. It was a pity that I couldn't go home yet after half the spring. The river is about to run out with its spring light, and the moon over the pool is about to set in the west. The slanting moon slowly sinks, hidden in the sea fog, and the distance between Jieshi and Xiaoxiang is infinite. I don’t know how many people can take advantage of the moonlight to go home. Only the moon that sets in the west sways the emotions of separation and fills the woods by the river.

The poet described the wonderful picture of the spring night in the south of the Yangtze River, with gorgeous language and beautiful rhyme. The scenery in the poem is covered with moonlight, giving it a unique flavor. The ingenious combination of sound and color, movement and stillness makes this painting come alive. The poet changes from the river, moon, sea, flowers, woods, ting and other scenes to the Mingyue Tower, using the scenery to reflect the loneliness of the separated man and the missing woman. The poem takes the moonlit night on the spring river as the background, and vividly and layeredly depicts the pain of missing lovesickness. The words are clear, the language is beautiful, the rhyme is beautiful, and it is endlessly memorable.

"Answer to the Return of a Girlfriend's Dream"

Zhang Ruoxu, Tang Dynasty

"It's too early to pass the gate, so don't look back on the tower."

Try on the warm clothes and open the mirror to look for the spring light.

The swallow peeks into the curtain, and the bee comes to paint the clothes.

Love urges peach and plum blossoms, and the heart is sent to the orchestra to fly.

We treat each other in the morning after makeup is washed off, and the wind and flowers will never return.

Wherever the dream soul enters, silence covers the door.

The wife stood on the balcony, looking at her husband who turned back every three steps until his figure disappeared into the distant horizon.

After parting, the heroine fell into a long period of hard thinking, but she also had to work hard to dress up. After putting on a new shirt, I felt the warmth of spring. After simply dressing up, she looked out the window. Outside the window, the scenery is full of life, with colorful flowers and green willows. Occasionally a swallow flies by. At some point, a few bees also came up with the idea of ????her "painting clothes".

Spring is the season of brilliant mountain flowers, with pink and plum blossoms, but the heroine's mood is in confusion. Suddenly, melodious music came from a distant direction, probably "Breaking Willows"! So she let herself be immersed in it, and let her heart fly to the distant frontier, to her husband's side.

She imagined that her husband would come back one day in the future, so she dressed up and waited for him to leave in the distance. But as spring passes and autumn comes, the flowers bloom and fall, the people who should come back have not come back yet. The night got deeper and she fell into sleep. But she fell into the new trouble of "only dreaming about idle people but not about you." Finally she woke up and sighed heavily, "Oh -" In the silent night, this sigh echoed heavily. Amidst the heavy echoes, she reluctantly closed the door again.

The author often uses side contrast techniques to express emotions with the help of emotional things. In addition, this poem can be said to be unique in its way of describing the characters' psychology. Each sentence does not directly describe the state of mind, but every sentence is written about the state of mind.

If this poem were to be translated into a stream of consciousness work, the charm would be greatly reduced. It's like straightening out a maze with twists and turns. It's clear and easy to understand, but the fun is gone.
