One
The mountain monk is sitting on the chessboard (1), and the bamboo in the game is clear.
No one can see the Yingzhu, and every now and then I can hear the sound of a rattle (2).
Second
The little boy held a small boat (3) and secretly picked white lotus back (4).
Unresolved hidden traces ⑸, duckweeds open together ⑹.

⑴Mountain monk: refers to the monk who lives in the mountain temple. Chess: playing chess relative to each other.

⑸Trace: refers to the duckweed that was scratched by the boat.
⑹ Duckweed: refers to an aquatic plant with oval leaves floating on the water, fibrous roots under the leaves, and white flowers in summer.
Translation
Part One
Two monks were sitting and playing Go. The chessboard was covered by the shade of bamboo trees. No one can see them outside the bamboo forest. If people are outside the bamboo forest, they can hear the faint sound of the two monks falling.
Second
A child held a boat and secretly picked white lotus flowers. He didn't know how to hide his traces, but there was a trace of a boat on the duckweed on the water.
Creative background
According to "Bai Juyi's Collection of Poems and Compilation", this poem was written in the ninth year of Yamato (835), when he was the prince's young master in Luoyang, the eastern capital. One day when I was traveling by the pond, I saw a mountain monk playing chess and a little boy rowing a boat, so I wrote this series of poems.
Appreciation
The first poem is about the mountain monk’s game of chess, which is a reflection of his own mentality. The monks in the mountains were originally indifferent to the world, and they played chess under the shade of bamboo. The author was fascinated by that purity, which was not stained by a trace of dust. "Mountain monks sit playing chess", there are at least two monks; "I hear the sound of a move from time to time", if someone is listening, then there are at least three people. The characters in this poem are all hidden, so even though there are three people moving around, it feels very peaceful. Especially the last sentence "I hear the sound of a child from time to time" is more like nature's music, highlighting the true tranquility.
The second poem writes about a child secretly picking white lotus. From the time when the little protagonist of the poem enters the picture with his boat, until he leaves, only a piece of duckweed is left behind. There are scenery, color, action descriptions, and psychological portrayals, which are detailed, realistic, and full of interest; and the innocence and childishness of this little protagonist are , lively and naughty cute image, it is lifelike and vivid on the paper.
In the poem, the poet narrates a small incident in the life of a little baby, accurately captures the little baby's momentary mood, and outlines a picture of lotus picking. In the summer when lotus flowers are in full bloom, innocent and lively children hold a small boat and secretly go to the pond to pick white lotus flowers to play with. I was so excited to collect lotus flowers that I had long forgotten that I had gone there quietly without telling the adults. I didn’t know how or didn’t think of hiding my traces, so I rowed back in a small boat with a swagger, and the boat gently shook the duckweeds on the water. A clear and obvious trace of the waterway was left behind. The poet uses his unique popular style to describe the little baby in the poem as very cute and amiable. The whole poem is like vernacular and full of charm.
Bai Juyi is a great poet who is good at writing narrative poems. His long narrative poems describe the narratives in a detailed and melodious way, full of the poet's own emotions. Similarly, the sketches in his poems are more popular and accessible. "Two Jue on the Pool" is such a set of short poems describing an ordinary life. The poet used his unique popular style to write the two scenes in a lovely, amiable and believable way.
Collecting lotus, there is such a ray of light in the duckweed! This kind of poem cannot be written, just like the face of Xizi cannot be painted with powder. How can such a good poem be written if the heart is not clean?

About the author
Bai Juyi (772-846), a poet of the Tang Dynasty. The courtesy name is Lotte and the name is Xiangshan Jushi. He was originally from Taiyuan (now part of Shanxi), and later moved to Xiagui (now northeast of Weinan, Shaanxi). Zhenyuan Jinshi, awarded the title of Secretary Provincial Secretary. During the Yuanhe period, he served as Dr. Zuo Yiyi and Zuo Zanshan. Later, he offended the powerful and was demoted to Jiangzhou Sima because he petitioned to severely arrest the murderer who assassinated Prime Minister Wu Yuanheng. In the early years of Changqing, he was appointed as the governor of Hangzhou, and in the early years of Baoli, he was appointed as the governor of Suzhou. Later, he became the minister of the Ministry of punishment. In literature, he advocates "articles are written according to the time, and songs and poems are written according to the situation". He is an advocate of the New Yuefu Movement. The language of his poetry is popular. Together with Yuan Zhen, he is also called "Yuan Bai", and with Liu Yuxi, he is also called "Liu Bai".
