Mr Xu Chi said in the introduction: "Walden is a lonely book, a quiet book and a wise book. Its analysis of life and criticism of customs are unique, but there are also some difficult places ... "When I read more than 20 pages and found that I couldn't figure out the clue, I looked back at these words and was no longer so depressed. "This book is profound, not an ordinary reading", so don't try to read it in general. Mr Xu Chi admits that "reading really needs a quiet and good environment, especially reading a good book needs a highly concentrated mental state". It seems that this reading must be concentrated and intensive.
The first 20 pages of the Economic Chapter first wrote "overwork": "Most people, even those in this relatively free land, are full of imaginary worries and endless rough labor just because of ignorance and mistakes, but they can't reap the beautiful fruits of life. Overworked, their fingers are clumsy and trembling too much for collection. Really, working people, day after day, can't find leisure to make themselves truly intact; He can't keep the most courageous relationship between people (what is this relationship? I don't understand. ); His labor always falls in price in the market. He has no time to do anything except make a machine. " Compared with now, we are all living machines! We all "live a quiet and desperate life", even with our "so-called games and pastimes", "there is even a solidified and unconscious despair" because "there is no entertainment in both, and entertainment can only be realized after work".
So why do humans "overwork" and "live in despair"? Because of the temptation and pursuit of material desires. Then Thoreau wrote that the necessities we really need do not require us to enslave ourselves like this: "Most luxuries, most so-called comforts of life, are not only unnecessary, but also greatly hinder the progress of mankind."
The author recognizes labor, but labor is not only to satisfy material desires; The author admits that a normal life needs some necessities, but it can't just revolve around material things. Sages are often "no matter how poor the external life is, the internal life is rich." It can be seen that Thoreau's happy lifestyle should be simple and moderate in material life, and he advocated spiritual self-sufficiency, abundance, independence, moderation and unchangeable life.
This kind of writing, reading, reading and thinking seems to be much better than at first. However, there are still many places I can't understand!

I finished reading this economic article today.
These 40 pages mainly revolve around "residence", "food", "furniture", "labor" and "charity" in turn.
When it comes to shelter, food and furniture, just as the first 22 pages talk about fuel and clothes, the author emphasizes that it doesn't cost too much to get these necessities because "my greatest skill is that I need very little." The excessive pursuit of material makes "people become their tools"; We no longer camp at night, we live on the earth and forget the sky.
I have read "labor" and "charity" twice, but I am still not sure how much I understand. I don't know how to record it. I won't record it for the time being. Read it tomorrow and think about writing it again.

The part about writing "labor" is less than three pages. I have read it for more than four times, and there are still many things I don't understand (this understanding ability is not generally poor! )。
The author said: "I only need to work for six weeks every year, which is enough to pay all my living expenses." Because he "has little demand" and because "I have a preference for certain things, but I pay special attention to my freedom, because I can endure hardships and achieve some success. I don't want to spend time buying rich carpets, other exquisite furniture, delicious food or Greek gothic houses. " In fact, these expressions still show that the author is obsessed with a simple and independent lifestyle.
But the last two paragraphs are about "lifestyle" and "cooperation", which I really can't understand.
On the topic of "charity", the author first expressed his disapproval of the so-called "charity": there is no smell worse than kindness. He also said: "I don't want to subtract anything from the praise that charity deserves. I just want to be fair and treat all life and work that is beneficial to mankind equally. " I don't think a person's integrity and charity are the main values, they are just his branches and leaves ... His kindness can't be a partial and short-term behavior, but a long-term prosperity. His contribution is harmless to him, and he knows nothing about it. This is a charity that hides evil people and practices evil. "
But does this view have anything to do with his simple and peaceful lifestyle? Does "fake charity" make people feel uneasy in simplicity, self-sufficiency, tranquility, independence and freedom? Does he mean "don't be a prophet of the poor, try to be a person worth living in the world"?
The last paragraph is also profound: "... if you are rich, you are as generous and free as a jujube tree;" However, if you have nothing to give, be a free man, like a cypress. "
I'm thinking, I still have a long way to go to understand this writing.

After reading the poem "Denying Poverty", I feel nothing.
Where I live; The article "Why am I Living" has a description of the author's imagination, a heartfelt description of his real life, and more of his thinking about "Why am I Living".
In my understanding, Thoreau lived for freedom, sobriety, simplicity and truth.
This article is full of philosophical and intriguing expressions, and the excerpts are as follows:
1. The more things a person can put down, the richer he is.
2. I investigate everything, like an emperor, and no one can deny my rights.
You should have the freedom to live as long as possible, and it is good to live without persistence. Being infatuated with a rural area is tantamount to being locked up in the county government.
No one is happier than those who enjoy the vast horizon freely.
Every morning is a pleasant invitation, which makes my life as simple as nature itself. Maybe I can say it is equally pure.
6, dawn, the most memorable time of the day is the awakening time.
7. To improve virtue is to abandon drowsiness.
We must learn to wake up again, and more importantly, we need to learn to stay awake without falling asleep. However, we should not use mechanical methods, but should place endless expectations on the dawn. Even in the deepest sleep, the dawn will not abandon us.
9. Lies and misunderstandings are overestimated as the most reasonable truth, but the reality is absurd. If people just observe the reality steadily and don't allow themselves to be deceived, then life will be like a fairy tale, like a fable, using what we know as an analogy. If we only respect everything that is necessary and powerful, music and poetry will resound through the streets. If we are in no hurry and extremely clever, we will realize that only great and beautiful things can exist forever and absolutely-the fear of locking and the joy of breaking are just shadows of reality.
10, let's live a day naturally like nature, or we will get off the track because of hard nuts or a mosquito's wing. Let's get up at dawn, skip breakfast, be calm and not anxious, let people come, let the bell ring and let the children cry-make up your mind and live every day well.
1 1, to be or not to be, we just pursue reality.

The title of these ten pages is reading. There is no doubt that Thoreau believes that reading is of irreplaceable significance to life.
He quoted the poet Mir Kama Wu Ting Master as saying: "Sitting and galloping in the kingdom of the spiritual world; I get this benefit from books. " He himself said: Words are the most precious sacred objects. ..... write carefully and implicitly, and read carefully and implicitly.

Excerpt:
1. Always look at what you can see.
I like to leave more space for my life.
My life itself is entertainment, and it will always be novel.
In the late spring, the huge bud suddenly seems to jump out of the dead branches and become a tender blue branch with a diameter of one inch. (These words are wonderful at first reading. After reading it twice, what do you think is wrong? It seems that we need to find another translation to read. Sometimes, when I sit in front of the window, they grow willfully and bend their fragile joints. I heard a fresh and soft branch suddenly break. Although there was no wind, it was crushed by its own weight and fell like a feather fan.

Read the article "Loneliness". Obviously, Thoreau is a person who can enjoy loneliness very much, so he will live alone in Huvat and go to the lake. He will "come and go in a strange free posture in nature" and "live as a part of nature". People nowadays can't stand this loneliness; Or we are creating excitement everywhere, but we have not got rid of the loneliness we are afraid of, and we are no longer looking for the meaning of being alone.

I haven't clocked in for two days. First of all, I am busy with training and studying. Secondly, I suddenly became less interested in reading Xu Chi's translation because I heard from Fan Meizhong that there were more authoritative versions. Thirdly, because of the busy days, I can't read this book well. If you are not careful, you will find so many reasons for not reading or punching in. It's time to punch in.
These two days, I read two articles, "Visitors" and "Planting beans" in pieces.

I read The Country, Lake and Bike Farm these two days.
The author of the article "Village" said: "If all people lived as simple as me, theft and robbery would not happen. This is because some people in society get too much, while others get too little. "
The last few sentences in Lake are very meaningful: nature is extremely lonely and prosperous, far from the towns where they live. Talk about heaven! You insulted the earth.

This time, I read Animal Neighbors translated by Li and Animal Neighbors translated by Xu Chi. The title of the same article is very different. There are mice, many kinds of birds, pheasants, domestic dogs and cats in this article, especially the ant wars. Because of ants, I personally prefer the topic of "animal neighbors".

After reading Walden translated by Xu Chi and Li these days, I still feel that Li's translation is easier to understand and read, and the annotations are much more detailed and complete than after reading several articles. So I decided to change books directly today and read the rest of the articles at noon: Warm House, Old Residents and Winter Guests, Winter Animals. In the afternoon, I read the short biography of Thoreau written by Emerson in the appendix.
This is undoubtedly a good book, not to mention how great the feelings in it are. The author's erudition in a single book is enough to make the general public worship again and again 28-year-old Thoreau lives alone in Huwath, and the mental state of going to the lake is probably beyond most people's understanding for a lifetime. Thoreau has a poet's temperament in his bones, just as he wrote in the article "Old Residents and Winter Visitors", "When farmers, hunters, soldiers, journalists and even philosophers are discouraged, the poet always goes forward because his motivation is pure love". His innate pure love for nature made Walden Lake and himself.
Reading through the book, this person prefers the first two and the last two. Thoreau's love for nature made him write a lot of natural customs that we can't perceive, but I prefer his philosophical words. Excerpts are as follows:
1. In the conclusion, Thoreau said that his life experiment in Walden Lake made him understand a truth: "As long as you pursue your dreams with confidence and strive to live a life that fits your imagination, you will surely achieve unexpected success on weekdays. You will leave something behind, cross an invisible border, and a new law with universal application and more freedom will emerge in your heart. The old law will become loose, get a new interpretation that is beneficial to you, give you greater freedom, and you will enjoy the unique rights of higher organisms. The more you simplify your life, the simpler the laws of the universe will be. At that time, loneliness was no longer lonely, poverty was no longer poor, and weakness was no longer weak. If you build castles in the air, your efforts may not be in vain, because castles should stand in the air. Now, go and lay the foundation for your castle. "
No matter how humble your life is, you should face it bravely and live seriously. Never run away from life and curse it. Not as bad as you. ..... Anyone who loves to find fault can find fault in heaven. Love your life, no matter how poor he is ... "
3. "Even if I live like a spider and live in a corner of the attic all my life, as long as my thoughts are with me, my world is equally vast. ..... Don't rush for development, don't succumb to too many external influences and let others play tricks on you. All this is a waste of time. Humility is like the night, which just sets off the light of the stars and the moon. "
4. "Strong light that blinds us is no different from darkness to us. Tomorrow will come only when we really wake up. There is more dawn after dawn, because the sun is just an enlightened star. "
