Reporter: Many people, like me, are too tired to read "Bai Qinglv". Why write such a novel?

Zhang: If you say it's hard to read, I think it's hard to read. I have been writing novels for 40 years, and I have been writing all kinds of novels since I was 7 years old. Science fiction, history, martial arts, legends, stories and legends are all changed into fake academic papers and fake news reports, but these novels are all based on stories, and the writing is based on the ins and outs of the stories. From the age of 40, I felt that every time I wrote a novel, I had to open the definition of the novel a little, just a little. "Li Datang White" is an attempt to open the usual form, telling a short story, interspersed with a historical background annotation, telling a short story, and adding historical background annotation ... There are more annotations than the text, so it is a bit difficult to read. However, some things make me feel at ease. For example, the son of singer Emil Wakin Chau has been studying in American schools since he was a child. He finished it and wanted to discuss it with his father, but Emil Wakin Chau didn't finish it. In this way, children with growing backgrounds understand and the instructions are not so difficult to read.

I want to present a picture of Li Bai in the social background of the Tang Dynasty. To restore history, we must go back to the past. For example, most of the dialogues in the book try to restore the way of speaking in the Tang Dynasty, which is also the reason why many people are not easy to understand. I don't mean to show off my skills. It's a necessity for writing, and I won't deliberately embarrass readers.

Reporter: You designed a theme of "Li Bai and Wen Chuang" in your speech at Chengdu Fangdian Bookstore. Why?

Zhang: Li Bai is the most famous poet in the history of China, and he is also the most misunderstood poet. I think Li Bai is a product of that social background, and at the same time he has made breakthrough efforts under that background. For example, in Li Bai's poems, few really conform to the law, which is the need of cultural creativity.

For example, in connection with Chengdu, "Every family will come to draw pictures in 90 days" is a sentence in Li Bai's "Ten Poems on a Westward Journey to Nanjing". In fact, only four of the songs in 10 are in full compliance with the rules. Others, if submitted, will be circled and a folded symbol will be drawn as homework for the teacher. No! Look at the complete works of Li Taibai again and find irregular poems. Eighty-nine percent are. At the same time, Du Fu wrote more than 100 seven-meter poems, and he had accurate meter.

In addition to being unrestrained, I feel more subversive. Li Bai was born in a merchant family. At that time, the merchant family's social status was not high, so Li Bai rebelled for a reason. He needs a breakthrough to show his helplessness. In Li Bai's time, it was easy for a person who honed his poetry from an early age to break the law, but it must be intentional to break the law, which led to a bodhisattva-level person: the forest was boundless, the fog was boundless, and the cold mountain was bleak. When the color enters a tall building, someone upstairs is worried.

In addition, the breakthrough is to meet the needs of music. In order to create a new musical form, Li Bai deliberately subverted the requirements of metrical style. Today, this is cultural creativity. At this point, we don't know him very well, which is why I want to write in white.

Writing about Li Bai-a writer, like a bank card, has a limit.

Reporter: when it comes to serious literature, it is constantly marginalized; Speaking of physical bookstores, there is a sigh. How to treat the change of "reading"? Can you recommend some good books to everyone?

Zhang: The ebb of serious literature began in Taiwan Province 10 years ago. Serious writers and literature, literature that can withstand all kinds of aesthetics are basically gone. As for the physical bookstore, there is no need to be so nervous. When people talk about this topic every day, bookstores will definitely still be there. I'm afraid that one day no one will say anything, and the bookstore may disappear. Two years ago, every family in Taiwan Province Province began to buy Mo Yan, even if they didn't understand it, they had to buy a thin book, so the topic was very important, at least making people realize the importance of books. The Book of Rites says: "Good questioners, such as tapping wood: the first one is easy, and then the procedure ... So, I neither recommend books to people, nor evaluate contemporary works, because I often haven't read them, so how can I tell others?

Reporter: Do you consider yourself one of the symbols of Taiwan Province literature?

Zhang: When there is a blog, as long as I make a sharp comment on public affairs, it will become TV news that night and newspaper news the next day. Later, I made a rule for myself: I would not participate in literary criticism, textbook selection, annual selection and literary subsidies, and I would try not to participate in public activities of more than three writers.

I know you put forward a lot of requirements for Mo Yan, but a writer and a bank card are the same. They are limited and cannot carry too much. My communication with writers is reading their books. Of course, there will be a private meeting, but it will not pull the mountain. If I am a cultural symbol and have my own hill, this hill is empty.
