Wen, whose real name is Qi, whose word is Fei Qing, also known as He, whose real name is Wen Zhongkui, is called Wen Fangcheng and Wen Assistant. Taiyuan qi (now Qixian county, Shanxi province) people. The descendant of Wen Yanbo, the prime minister in the early Tang Dynasty, was a poet and poet in China in the late Tang Dynasty.
Wen is proficient in temperament and poetry, and is as famous as Li Shangyin, so he is called "Wen Li". His poems are gorgeous, rich and exquisite, mostly about women's feelings, and a few works reflect current politics. He is superior to other poets in the late Tang Dynasty in artistic achievements of Ci, and he is an important poet of Huajian School, which has had a great influence on the development of Ci.
In the history of ci poetry, Wen Tingyun is as famous as Wei Zhuang, and is also called "Wen Wei". His ci works are deliberately refined, paying attention to the literary talent and feelings of ci. There are more than 70 existing ci poems, and Wen is regarded as the originator of Huajian Ci School. Huang Sheng commented in the first volume of Selected Poems of Hua 'an: "Wen Tingyun is very beautiful, and it is the crown of flowers."
Wen's poetic artistic expression is flexible and diverse, with exquisite and tireless descriptions, elegant style and fresh language epigrams, and beautiful writing style, which was highly praised by people at that time. From the aspect of poetic style, he is best at Yuefu poetry and near-body rhythm.
There are about one-sixth Yuefu poems in Wen's poetry collection, which are colorful and write more boudoir banquets. Among his Yuefu poems, the high achievements are mainly poems about history and nostalgia, love poems and landscape poems, but there are also excellent works describing banquets and music. Among Wen's modern poems, the highest achievement is the seven laws, followed by the five laws and seven quatrains. Seven metrical poems, such as Passing the Tomb of Chen Lin, Su Wu Temple, and Ma Yitie, have always been regarded as excellent and can be driven by Li Shangyin.
Wen Tingyun occupies a high position in the history of Ci. His ci inherited the styles of Qi, Liang and Chen Gong in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, inspired the colorful style of Huajian School, and was an important symbol of the transformation from folk ci to literati ci. Later poets such as Li Yu, Ouyang Xiu, Liu Yong, Yan, Zhou Bangyan, Li Qingzhao, Lu You, etc. were all deeply influenced by Wen, and even regarded him as an idol. Wen is called "the ancestor of Huajian Ci" because of one of his ci collections.
