Liu Jiakui liked reading when he was young, but he had no books to read. The first book he read was an old Xinhua dictionary used by his brothers. I have been practicing calligraphy since the third grade of primary school. I haven't practiced calligraphy for ten years, but I have memorized four books, thousands of words and thousands of poems for copybooks. By the time he graduated from high school, he had borrowed almost all of China's classical poems and novels.
1974, the college entrance examination did not resume, and Liu Jiakui was drafted into the army. Worked in the army 15 years, worked as a secretary, operator, technical staff officer and press officer of the new barracks. During this period, he won the first place among young and middle-aged writers in Jilin, and was admitted to Jilin Provincial College of Propaganda and Cultural Management (Jilin Writers College) for two years, graduated from 1987, and transferred to Jilin Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles for short stories 1989.
It was a small accident that Liu Jiakui embarked on the road of poetry creation. 1in the autumn of 979, when he was a press officer in the army, he was introduced to his present wife Zhao. Zhao is from Jilin. She doesn't write poetry, but she likes reading poetry. When she found that Jia Kui's so-called poems were written in a diary, she praised them and strongly encouraged him to contribute. Before that, Liu Jiakui never wanted to be a poet. He has read Li Bai's poem "Poetry is a gift to the north window, and ten thousand words are not worth a glass of water". His "poetry" is just a record of his soliloquy when he is lonely. His self-design at that time was to be the director of the political department in the movie Heroes and Children. The encouragement of his lover changed the direction of Liu Jiakui's life, and the first contribution was published, which also strengthened his creative confidence.
Because of his profound knowledge of classical literature and extensive study of western classical and modern literary masterpieces, he systematically studied world literature, philosophy, aesthetics, music and so on. During his two years in the Writers' College, his creative starting point was very high. His first publication of poetry in Poetry magazine was the first topic, which shocked the poetry circle and was regarded as "1984, one of the most important achievements of China poetry circle" (in the words of poetry critic Tang Xiaodu). He adored Qu Yuan, Wang Wei, Du Fu, Bai Juyi, Lu Xun, Shakespeare, Baudelaire, Rilke and Eliot, and learned everything useful to him from them. He has been committed to organically combining China's classical literature with foreign modern literature's emphasis on human nature, and strives to create poems with national characteristics that transcend time, national boundaries, races and social systems.
