When I was a child/homesickness was a small stamp/I was here/my mother was there.
When I grow up/homesickness is a narrow ticket/I am here/the bride is there.
Later/homesickness was a low grave/I was outside/my mother was inside.
Now/homesickness is a shallow strait/I am here/the mainland is there.
But personally, don't read these poems. There are many well-written poems. Of course, if you don't like this tone, it's just personal advice. Recommend Voltaire to the landlord. Baudelaire, Hugo, Ariosto and Tasso. Tasso, in particular, the liberated Jerusalem is really well written, but there are a few translated versions.
