Creative background

In the fourth year of Emperor Dezong's reign in the Tang Dynasty (783), Wei Yingwu was appointed governor of Chuzhou (now Chuzhou City, Anhui Province) by Shangshu Bibu Yuanwailang. He left Beijing in the first summer and took office in the autumn. This song "Wen Yan" was probably written shortly after he arrived in Chuzhou.

Appreciation of Works

Shen Deqian's "Speaking of Poems" says: "The five-character quatrains are as natural as You Cheng's, as sublime as Taibai, and as ancient as Suzhou, all merged into Huaji." "Gu Dan" well summarizes the stylistic characteristics of Wei Yingwu's five-character quatrains. In this poem, the poet's ancient artistic style is reflected.

The whole poem is a light picture of homesickness. The cold night, the desolate autumn wind, the cold autumn rain, the quiet high house and the lonely figure form an ancient and distant artistic conception. . The structure of this poem is ingenious, implicit and euphemistic. It writes "hometown" first, and then "Huainan". It first brings out the thoughts of "you", and then it is lined with the sound of "wild geese". In this ingenious arrangement, the poem is very short, but People's emotions are profound and progress layer by layer.

In addition, the emotion of the poem triggers nostalgia on the surface, but it is combined with the fact that the poet was demoted to Chuzhou. You can also feel the poet's dissatisfaction with reality from the poem, which is perfectly integrated into the desolate autumn sound and autumn mood.
