Gardening for health and wellness is simply about using gardening activities as a way to maintain health. Although the research on horticulture on human health originated in Europe and the United States, throughout the history of our country, the hermit culture of literati during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, including many of Tao Yuanming’s poems, actually laid the foundation for the research on horticulture on human health.
The predecessor of Yangzhou University can be traced back to Tongzhou Normal School founded in 1902 by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous industrialist and educator in modern China. It is a century-old prestigious school with a long history and outstanding reputation. The predecessors of the school, the original Jiangsu Agricultural College and Yangzhou Normal University, were developed on the basis of the agricultural department of Nantong University and the liberal arts and history department of Tongzhou Normal School. The other four universities participating in the merger also have more than 60 years of independent schooling history.
