What do you mean by paving the way? What's the role?

Paving is to tell the conditions and characters of environmental events according to certain logic before writing a story, and finally lead the event out smoothly and make it clear. This is a rhetorical device.

For example, a Confucian scholar in the Han Dynasty said, "Fu's words tell the good and evil of politics and religion today." Straight books, repeated narratives, can be finished in one sentence, but repeated. At its extreme, it has developed into a style, magnificent, like the home furnishings of nouveau riche.

Another example is the folk song Peacock Flying Southeast in Yuefu, which uses elaborate techniques in many places. At the beginning of the poem, Lan Zhi said to himself, "Thirteen can weave and sew clothes,+five can play, sixteen can recite poems, and seventeen can be a gentleman's wife ..." This is a longitudinal exposition, concise and intended to emphasize that Lan Zhi was smart, versatile and well-educated since childhood, which implies the irrationality of Jiao Mu's exile of his daughter-in-law.

Carving is the basic method of ci and fu creation. There are four ways to elaborate Ci and Fu: scattered, paragraph, progressive and combined.

The so-called dissemination method refers to the dissemination of poems or stanzas with the same content to the whole work.

Paragraph presentation refers to describing a theme with natural paragraphs in a poem or work.

Progressive presentation method refers to the progressive and step-by-step description method when presenting the whole work or the whole paragraph, which is vertical.

Parallel presentation refers to the method of depicting the whole work or the whole paragraph from different directions and aspects, so that the depicted object is in a horizontal state.
