In Shu, there are two monks: one is poor and the other is rich. The poor said to the rich: "What do I want to do with the South China Sea?"

The rich said: "How can I rely on it to go there?"

He said: "My bottle and one bowl are enough."

The rich man said: "I have been trying to buy a boat for several years, but I have not been able to do so. How can I rely on it to go down there!"

From Western Shu to the South China Sea, I don’t know how many thousands of miles there are. The rich monks can’t get there, but the poor ones can’t get there. How can people be as determined as the humble monks of Shu? Therefore, one can rely on one's intelligence and agility but cannot rely on it; those who rely on one's intelligence and agility but do not learn are self-defeating. Faintness and mediocrity can be limited but cannot be limited; those who do not limit their dullness and mediocrity but are tireless in studying are those who are self-reliant. Is there a difference between difficult and easy things in the world? As long as you do it, difficult things will become easy; if you don't do them, easy things will become difficult. Is there a difference between difficult and easy learning for people? As long as you study, things that are difficult will become easy; if you don't study, things that are easy will also become difficult.

My talents are dim and not as good as others; my talents are mediocre and not as good as others. As long as I study hard every day and persist for a long time without slacking off, when I succeed, I will no longer know that I am ignorant and ordinary. I am talented, smart and agile, several times more than others. If it is discarded and used, it is no different from ignorance and mediocrity.
