Original poem:
Alone, grass grows by the stream, and orioles sing on the trees.
The spring tide brought the rain late and urgent, and there was no boat on the wild crossing.
Translation:
I only like the weeds that grow in the valley by the stream, and the orioles that sing softly in the depths of the Woods. In the evening, the spring tide rises, the spring rain falls, and the Xijiang River is fast-flowing. There is no one at the desert ferry, only a flat boat swims across the water.
Origin: The Wei Dynasty in the Tang Dynasty was in Chuzhou by Xixi River.
Poetry appreciation
This poem describes the scenery of the late spring rain in Xijiang River. The first sentence and the second sentence are written about the Xijiang River, where the grass is green and the orioles are flowing, which is a beautiful scenery. In the spring when birds are singing and flowers are fragrant, the poet enjoys the lonely grass in the wild valley and the songs in the deep forest alone, showing his unique interest and quiet mood.
The third and fourth sentences are about the rain in Xixi. In the evening, the spring rain rustles and the tide rises rapidly. On the deserted ferry, only one boat is allowed to drift freely. The poet noticed and described the expression of the boat "sleeping freely", which included the static state of loneliness and no one in the evening and the dynamic state of sudden rain.
The unity of motion and static in the small scene gives people a sense of beauty and evokes people's association. From the late rain, spring tide and boat crossing the river carefully described by the poet, we can observe the poet's self-comfort and indifferent interest, and also understand his subtle sadness hidden in his heart.
