On Modern Poetry

In the May 4th literary revolution, modern literature in China was born. After the pioneering stage, new poetry has formed a relatively perfect form, mainly free poetry, both new metrical poetry and symbolic poetry.

In the second half of the 1940s, new poems, which were later called folk songs, matured in the rural areas of the liberated areas. The narrative poems of Li Ji and Ruan embody the outstanding achievements of new poetry.

1949 after the founding of new China, poetry entered a new stage of development, and new themes and themes emerged with the new life. The poet wrote an ode to the new era with passion. At the same time, the new society has also created a group of new people and brand-new poetry works.

Since the new era, the poetry circle, which has been silent for ten years, has shown a new scene of a hundred flowers blooming. Poetry can be widely used for reference in expression, but its form tends to be loose and free, with diverse styles. In the early days of the new period, the poems cheering for victory and reflecting on history inherited the tradition of realism and made it continue to develop. At the same time, a group of young poets, such as Shu Ting, Gu Cheng and He Jiang, grew up rapidly in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their poems usually show an obscure and unusual complex emotion, which is called "misty poetry".

After the middle and late 1980s, the modernist trend of thought called "the third generation poet" appeared in the poetry circle.

Understanding the history of modern poetry in China will naturally involve the development of poetry in Taiwan Province, Hongkong and Macau. Since modern times, Taiwan Province Province, Hongkong and Macau have been colonized by Japanese, British and Portuguese successively. For more than a century, foreign colonial rule has made them show a development trend inconsistent with the mainland in politics, economy and culture. The separation of society has brought about the diversion of literature, which makes modern poetry develop in different forms. However, in any case, they are always a branch of China's modern poetry and enrich China's modern poetry. Taiwan Province Province, especially Taiwan Province Province, is a part of China, which is closely related to the mainland. People in Taiwan Province Province are consistent with the mainland in life style, mode of production, social structure, folk beliefs, language forms and cultural psychology. The occurrence and development of Taiwan Province's modern poetry is no different from that of Chinese mainland. In the 1920s, driven by the May 4th literary movement in Chinese mainland, Taiwan Province also ushered in a "poetry revolution". From 192 1, newspapers and periodicals such as Taiwan Cultural Association, Taiwan Province Province and Taiwan Province Provincial People's Daily introduced Chinese mainland's literary movement, writers, works, modern poetry texts and theories during the May 4th Movement to Taiwan Province Province, and poems and theoretical works by Hu Shi, Guo Moruo, Liu Bannong, Yu, Bing Xin and Xu Yunuo also appeared in Taiwan Province Province. From 65438 to 0924, Taiwan Province People's Daily, the earliest vernacular magazine in Taiwan Province Province, began to publish modern poems by Shi, Yi and others. 1925, the garden where Modern Poetry was published was expanded to the first literary magazine Everyone in Taiwan Province Province, which was just founded. In the same year, Zhang's collection of poems, Love in Chaos, was published in Taibei, which was the first personal collection of modern poetry and the first collection of new literature published in Taiwan Province Province. From 65438 to 0926, Taiwan Province People's Daily held the first island-wide modern poetry collection and selection activity, collecting 50 modern poems, which became the first modern poetry creation activity in Taiwan Province Province. Modern poetry in Taiwan Province Province gradually developed, and in 1930s, Taiwan Province Province ushered in a prosperous period of modern poetry creation.
