What is the difference between the seven-step poem and Guo Moruo's anti-seven-step poem?

Cao Zhi wrote the seven-step poem in hope (Cao Pi saved his life), while Guo Moruo wrote the anti-seven-step poem in praise (Cao Zhi's greatness).

Boil beans and burn beans,

The beans are crying in the kettle.

Originally born from the same root,

Why are you in such a hurry to blow each other up?

[Notes]

1. pot (f incarnation): ancient pot.

2. Fried: suffering, metaphorical persecution.

[explanation]

According to Shi Shuo Xin Yu Literature, Cao Zhi's brother Cao Pi wanted to persecute Cao Zhi after he proclaimed himself emperor, so he ordered Cao Zhi to write a poem in just seven steps. As a result, Cao Zhi sang this seven-step poem. The poet used the metaphor of fried beans to accuse Cao Pi of cruel persecution of himself and other brothers.

The first two sentences, "Boil beans and burn beans, and beans cry in the kettle", describe the sharp contradiction between "beans" and "beans" and the cruel persecution of beans by beans. The last two sentences are "born from the same root, why speculate with each other!" Make the finishing point and prompt the theme of the poem. The word "the same root" is a pun. On the surface, it means that "glutinous rice" and "beans" grow on the same root. Actually, they were born to the same parents as xelloss, and asked xelloss why he was so anxious about his younger brother and sister.

The metaphor of this poem is very apt, simple and vivid. Although it is still difficult to determine whether this poem itself is really written by Cao Zhi, it reflects the internal contradictions of Cao Wei's ruling group with vivid images, and it is indeed a good poem.

Reflections on reading seven-step poems

Recently, I read Cao Zhi's seven-step poems, and there are several harmony poems. I feel a lot, and many words are beyond words. Record these poems first as a kind of enjoyment.

Seven step poem

Cao zhi

Boil beans and burn beans,

The beans are crying in the kettle.

Originally born from the same root,

What's the hurry?

The author uses vivid and appropriate metaphors to express his feelings and meanings euphemistically and implicitly. China's traditional habit is that "brothers are like brothers and wives are like clothes", but in the face of vested interests, brothers also turn against each other. In the face of exciting obstacles such as money, fame, beauty, inheritance and power, any preaching and norms are put in the second place. This is the case at all times and in all countries. I think, if we were poorer, miserable and stupid, maybe the competition would not be so urgent and fierce.

Guo Moruo used it against his will and wrote a poem.

Anti-seven-step poem

Guo Moruo

Boil beans and burn beans,

Cooked beans are gray.

Familiar people sit on the table,

Ash is used as fertilizer in the field.

Not from the same root,

Why are you willing to destroy yourself?

Poetry becomes a tribute to the spirit of self-sacrifice.

Mathematician Hua once wrote a poem against his will.

To your brothers.

Hua

Boil beans and burn beans,

Enjoy yourself under the kettle.

At the expense of the ashes,

May my brother grow up early.

"Maturity" is a pun and poetic.

I want to learn to write a song to express my heart. Desire is different from above.

Boil beans and burn beans,

Disaster begins with the wall.

Snakes and mussels compete with each other,

Fish Weng gets benefits.

"Anti-Seven-Step Poetry" praises Zi's willingness to self-destruct, turn to ashes, make the dedication and sacrifice of Tian, and help beans become delicious food on the table. This idea is just the opposite of the seven-step poem. "
