Xu Yuanchong is from Nanchang, Jiangxi. He graduated from the Foreign Languages Department of National Southwest Associated University in his early years, and was admitted to the Institute of Foreign Literature of Tsinghua University Research Institute 1944. He has been engaged in literary translation for more than 60 years. His translation covers many languages such as Chinese, English and French. His translation focuses on the English translation of China's ancient poems, forming the method and theory of rhyming translation, and he is known as "the only person who translated poems into English and French".
