1. Everyone thinks that there is a God in the world.
2. Everyone stresses that good and evil are rewarded, and exhorts people to accumulate virtue from good.
3. Most of them have been handed down from the past.
The difference between the two:
1. Most myths and legends are circulated among the people, or some scholars have compiled and recorded them according to folk legends. The readers basically have no fixed population and are suitable for most people to read.
2. Religion is the definition of belief groups by later generations. For example, Jesus spread his knowledge and views on life, the world and the universe to believers two thousand years ago, and guided believers to return to the kingdom of heaven. Later generations recorded and sorted out what he said, which is the Bible circulating today. Those who believe in him can go to the kingdom of heaven in the future if they do what Jesus said. The preaching of Sakyamuni in India is similar to that of Jesus, and it is also like his disciples recording his speeches and writing them as Buddhist Scriptures for believers to learn, and later becoming arhats, bodhisattvas or Tathagata, and going to the "world of concubines". Religious books are generally studied by believers, with a roughly fixed population.
3. Before practicing according to religion, magical powers, such as eminent monks, can be displayed, while myths and legends are only sporadic records of the behavior of high-ranking people.
4. According to the Buddhist scriptures, when the flower of Youtan Pohla blooms in the world, there will be a wheel under the holy king to spread the dharma among the world. Recently, the news that "Youtan Pohla Flower" has been widely reported all over the world. You can search it on Baidu.
In addition, myths are not superstitions, but in the process of being handed down from generation to generation, there will inevitably be some deviations. In today's empirical science, we have not broken through the three-dimensional space in which we live, so we can't see the truth of another space. As soon as someone says "myths", some people say it is superstitions. It is because they only believe what their eyes see and their minds are not open enough.
At that time, the disciple of Sakyamuni asked, "Master, I can't see the heavenly world you mentioned. How can I believe it is true?" Sakyamuni took him to a windowless house and said, there is an axe in the corner. Can you see it? Because the room was dark, disciple said he couldn't see it. Sakyamuni said, "What you can't see doesn't exist?"
In fact, in physics, the world we see with our naked eyes only accounts for a very small part of the whole light wave, and there are more physical worlds that we can't see with our naked eyes. Some scientists speculate that there are dark matter and immaterial things. Therefore, some things that we can't explain for the time being can't be called superstition. In practice, these are all real and objective things.
