Literati painting is a painting style developed from the painting style of the Tang Dynasty in the Tang and Song Dynasties. It pays attention to the expression of poetry and painting and the spiritual realm of literati, and pursues the artistic realm of vivid charm, deep artistic conception and elegant brushwork. Literati painting pays attention to individuality, experience and nature, including landscape painting, flower-and-bird painting and figure painting.
On the other hand, court painting pursues superb skills and high quality, and usually pays more attention to vivid painting effects than personality, experience and naturalism. In the field of modern art, literati painting is similar to traditional painting and Chinese painting, emphasizing the artist's personality and expression, and paying attention to expressing personal feelings and life experiences.
In contrast, academic art emphasizes skill and standardization, and pays more attention to the classical aesthetics and modern aesthetics of works of art.
The historical development of literati painting;
The formation and development of literati painting is a cultural phenomenon caused by various factors in China feudal society, which has a long evolution process. As early as the Jin Dynasty, some painters showed certain creative ideas and artistic pursuits in their creation.
For example, Wang Wei's painting is my own idea, Zong Bing's theory of "relaxing spirit", Wang Wei's emphasis on emotional factors in his creation, and Gu Kaizhi's theory of "form and spirit" should all be regarded as the origin of literati painting.
The origin of literati painting can be traced back to the Han Dynasty, and both Zhang Heng and Cai Yong have painting names. Although the painting has not been handed down from generation to generation, it is recorded in ancient books. During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Yao Zui's "don't learn to be a man, entertain yourself" became the central argument of literati painting. Scholars of all ages respected it as a painting purpose. Zong Bing's ambition is to "have a clear mind and view the Tao, and lie down and swim".
It fully embodies the mentality of the literati to entertain themselves. Poetry prevailed in the Tang Dynasty, and the great poet Wang Wei painted with poetry. Make future generations regarded as the originator of literati painting. Painting became a model for later literati painters. There are pictures in poems, and there are poems in paintings. It has become a practice and passed down from generation to generation. Before the Song Dynasty, China's painting had made remarkable progress, and there were "three landscapes" and "Xu Lvti different" flower-and-bird paintings.
