Introduction of Zhancheng Rice in Song Dynasty

Zhancheng rice is a high-yield, early-maturing and drought-tolerant rice variety produced in Indochina Peninsula. It was introduced to China in Song Dynasty, and spread rapidly in Jiangnan. Zhancheng rice is named after its origin in Zhancheng, south-central Vietnam. Zhancheng Rice, also known as Zaohe or Zhanhe, is an early indica rice, which originated in south-central Vietnam and was first introduced to Fujian in the early Northern Song Dynasty. According to China ancient books, Zhancheng rice has many characteristics. The first is "drought tolerance". Second, it has strong adaptability and is "born without chaos". Third, the growth period is short, and it only takes 50 days from planting to harvesting.
