The famous Icelandic poets Stefan of Hojtadal (1887-1933) and Darwitz Stefansson (1895-1964) made contributions to the development of modern poetry. The publication of Stefan's collection of poems "Wanderer's Song" (1918) and Stefansson's collection of poems "Black Feather" (1919) became a turning point in Icelandic poetry. These poems praise youth, love and freedom, and their language is simple and natural.
