Fantasia for Life is a fairy tale poem written by Gu Cheng when he was 12 years old and accompanied his family to a wasteland near the Bohai Sea. He and his father are raising pigs on the beach. Once he was suddenly shocked by the loneliness, silence, noise and magic of nature, and his inspiration and imagination suddenly came into being. After returning to the city from 65438 to 0976, this poem was published in a literary tabloid, recited by the author at a poetry meeting, recorded and played by CCTV, and included in a collection of poems officially published at home and abroad. Because it truly conveys the sadness and confusion of a young man who was innocently abandoned by society in turbulent years, and the instinctive desire of good people for survival, beauty and light, it deeply touched the heartstrings of a generation. As an influential representative poet of misty poetry, Gu Cheng admits that Fantasia of Life is his "best work of youth" (sunshine of youth). Even today, when we read this poem, which comes from the soul building of an innocent teenager without pretense, we will be infected by the universal belief of human beings and the eternal soul flame it contains. Because as Dr. Johnson said, "The mind can only rest beside eternal truth."
Like many people who have experienced disasters and dragged the shadow of history behind them for a long time, Gu Cheng's unforgettable thing is his 12-year-old "square full of weeds". It was his humiliated and exiled childhood. A sudden red storm with religious fanaticism destroyed his warm and happy childhood and his berry-like dream. Life and the world have unceremoniously displayed all its coldness and harshness in front of this young man. Dropped out of school, was robbed, and followed his parents to the desolate saline-alkali beach far from the city to put pigs. This sudden disaster is too abrupt and heavy for a child who is only twelve years old. However, the unfortunate life experience may be precisely the opportunity for the artistic creation of beauty. When talking about the essence of poetry, Taiwan Province poet Love said that poetry is "the understanding of the essence of life and the exploration of the true meaning of life, which can only be found in the devastated life situation." (Preface to China's Poems of Modern Literature) The madness of the political movement that Gu Cheng encountered lies in the destruction and trampling on people and personality. However, when the external distress is added to life with high intensity, the internal life consciousness will be fully awakened and particularly active. This is why in that era when the political shadow penetrated into every corner of social life and human consciousness, Fantasia for Life took life as its fulcrum and life as its starting point and end point. One of the reasons for his individuality is that the poet, by virtue of his innate extraordinary inner understanding, filtered out the generalized political emotions, only retaining the emotions of Zhan Chun's poems, and condensed into a relatively pure artistic work that can transcend time and space.
Art can't solve specific life problems, but it can soothe the injured soul and fill the spiritual vacancy. Fantasia for Life shows that when the poet's life rhythm is stagnant, thoughts, fantasies and souls roam in another world. It "throws the whole human soul into an activity through an idealized and perfect description" (Coleridge). The reason for material life is drifting away. People's feelings, consciousness and imagination are really amazing things. In an instant, it "eliminated the boundaries of existence and turned the dim hopes of ordinary people into dazzling images" (in Madame de Starr). A real "I" abandoned and exiled by the society he lived in was accepted by the quiet and generous nature, so a spiritual "I" integrated with the vast universe was born and began his wandering, inquiry and search in the imaginary world, that is, his soul journey-

Poetry adopts a children's tone commensurate with the author's age, and the fantasy mode and image category also show the characteristics of fairy tales. The poet's eyes are "omitted/diseased trees, decayed walls/rusted fences" and his mind is "set out to unpolluted distant places" (Shu Ting: a fairy tale poet-a gift to Gu Cheng). In the real relationship, people can't dominate themselves, but they are free in the spiritual field. He found carriers for his will to live ("phantom and dream") and creative potential ("inspiration and soul"): "boat" and "car". Through imaginative and symbolic boat drifting and car wandering, "I" completed the process from seeking refuge to self-establishment, that is, from passive to active. The whole poem is clearly marked as two parts, both about a state of travel, but with different meanings. They are two different stages of the inner emotional experience of the same theme, and they are connected to form the poet's mental journey.
In the first film, "I" was driven by the real situation and attracted by the truth of existence, and began his voyage in the universe. Only when its earthly reality turns its back on human nature can its beautiful desire for survival become a "phantom and dream". Phantom and Dream hides an ugly real society that the poet doesn't want to mention. Once naturalized in the universe, the essence of human freedom is highlighted. "I" freely "rippled in the blue sky" and let the "waterfall of sunshine" wash my skin black. "The sun" is the creator of life, but life can regard it as a servant: "The sun is my tracker". This amazing imagination not only confirms and emphasizes the essence and value of human beings from another angle! The essence of human freedom and the value of existence can only be revealed in the vast cosmic background. When people are lost in the narrow realistic relationship, such a contrast is deplorable. "I" is very free in the quiet and vast sky: "I have no purpose, rippling in the blue sky." But "no purpose" is also the result of being abandoned and exiled, revealing a sense of helplessness and desolation of social outcasts. This sense of desolation became more and more intense after he involuntarily flipped through the calendar from morning till night, from night to dawn.
where am I going?
The universe is so boundless.
In the desolation, there is also fear: "The sea is full of icebergs/crashing/rumbling-lightning and thunder", and there are deterrent forces against young and weak lives everywhere. Connecting with the author's experience at that time, the helpless lament of this weak and helpless person is really sad and touching. The author did not directly criticize or angrily attack a certain social politics. He is only loyal to his feelings and asks himself to pour out his desire for survival in a fantasy world. Such an elegant protest seems more thought-provoking. Looking at the title of the poem, fantasy is the right and ability of life, but the minimum requirement of life can only be fantasy, so what kind of tragic situation does human beings sometimes face?
The tenacious will to life will not wither on its own, and fantasy will eventually find a way to place it. In the first part of the poem, "I" fell into the confusion of life, and my soul drifted alone, unable to find a home. In the second part, "I" found a way of objectification in an eternal world, that is, art, perhaps the real world is too difficult to change, because life is limited in length, which is not enough to counter the existing relationship between historical inheritance and the integration of human nature and evil. Therefore, it is better to strive to create an ideal realm higher than reality. It is built by the beauty in people's hearts, it will not collapse, it will last forever. Romantic poets excessively despise reality, love art, regard art as a model of life, and regard artistic creation as an important or even the only way to realize and prolong life, so does Gu Cheng. He is a very romantic poet. He is less involved in consciousness and lacks the ability to participate, but he is better at talking about it in the illusory world, thinking that it is also a kind of work that is beneficial to mankind. He said: "Everything, life and people have their own dreams. ..... Every dream is a world. ..... I also have my dream, distant and clear, it is not just a world, it is a paradise above the world. ..... is beauty, the purest beauty. ..... I want to cast a key with pure silver in my heart, open the door of heaven and face mankind. " (Reading Notes on Learning Poetry) "I will use my life, my own and future smiles to pave a lawn for my children and build a garden of poems and fairy tales, so that people can believe in beauty, the existence of tomorrow, that the East will shine like the sun, and that all beautiful ideals will eventually come true." It "lets time drag/welcome the world", that is, the poet talks with the world and human beings with the art flowing out of life. I was welcomed and set free.
