What does Holy Branch Sunday mean?
PalmSunday, also known as Palm Sunday and Good Friday (because Jesus was betrayed, tried and finally crucified this week), marks the beginning of Holy Week. According to the New Testament, Jesus Christ was welcomed into the Holy City by the people of Jerusalem on this day and was welcomed by the people like a king. People hold palm branches and spread clothes and branches on the ground. Jesus rode little Lu and walked into Jerusalem amid the cheers of people. The church celebrated Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem on Sunday and also commemorated his sacrifice for us. Churches all over the world often celebrate this day with the theme of the glory of Jesus Christ, and mostly decorate churches with palm branches (domestic churches often use cypress techniques). Holy Sunday is not a traditional etiquette of the Roman church. It originated in Jerusalem in the East and was gradually introduced to Rome through France in the Middle Ages. The earliest record commemorating Jesus' entry into Jerusalem seven days before Easter is the Travels of Eglia in about 400 AD.
