Su Shi was known as "Su Shi" in the Song Dynasty

Su poetry was called Dongpo style in the Song Dynasty.

Su Shi was not only one of the ancient writers of the Song Dynasty who paid the most attention to "literary", but his poems were unique and unique after Tang poetry. They were known as "Dongpo style". Together with Huang Tingjian, he was also known as "Su Huang". ".

Su Shi’s poems are all about emotion and scenery. Not only does his writing have the momentum of flowing water, and he is full of eloquence and eloquence, but his poems are also full of new ideas, boldness and diversity. The style and philosophy are full of majestic momentum.

Su Shi has more than 2,700 extant poems, which are extremely rich in content. They are roughly divided into two periods, the first and the second periods, based on his banishment to Huangzhou. His early poems were full of grand political ambitions. Since he received a good cultural education since childhood, he had lofty political ambitions and extraordinary talents. He was also outspoken and dared to be honest.

In line with the Confucian ideas of being an official through excellence in learning and practical application in the world, he created a large number of political narrative poems that criticized current ills and satirized new laws, and his full political pride was revealed in his poems.

From the perspective of subject matter and content, Su's poems can be roughly divided into four categories: social and political poems, landscape poems, pottery poems, and painting poems. Most of Su Shi's early poems reflected the hardships of the people's livelihood and the gains and losses of current affairs, such as "Moving at Niukou at Night", "Lychee Sigh", "Wuzhong Field Woman's Sigh", "Five Wonders of the Mountain Village", etc.

The artistic characteristics of Su Shi's poems are reflected in three aspects:

using literature as poetry; using talent and learning as poetry; being good at seven words and having various styles. His poetry is no less than that of Li Bai and Du Fu of the Tang Dynasty, although Su's poetry is deeply influenced by poets of the Tang Dynasty such as Li Bai and Du Fu.

However, Su Shi was unique in developing poetic realm and expression techniques, shaping a new life of Song poetry.
