Longing for Spring
Composer: Mozart
Lyrics: Overbeck
Singing: Stars
Lyrics:
Come on, dear May
Change the forest into green, and let's
watch the violets bloom by the river. How willing we are to see them again
. In the snow, under the lights,
we get together, build a hut with cards
and play all kinds of games, and travel on a sleigh in the free and lovely land
When birds sing songs and report the arrival of spring
Dancing on the grass is another joy
Ah ~ Come on
Lovely May, bring violets quickly
And bring more cuckoos.
Yearning for Spring was written in Vienna on January 14th, 1791. At this time, Mozart was already ill, poor and ill. Perhaps he didn't realize that his creation and life would end here. That year, he died without waiting for spring. Although Mozart longed for spring, he didn't wait for his spring.
