Why is Chen Ziang called the "Founder of Poetry in the Tang Dynasty"?

Some people in the Yuan Dynasty called Chen Ziang "the ancestor of poetry in the Tang Dynasty". He was given such a high evaluation mainly because of his innovative theory of poetry and poetry creation practice. Chen Ziang's poetry innovation theory profoundly criticized the formalism since the Jin and Song Dynasties, requiring poetry to reflect social reality and eulogize progressive ideals.

Under the guidance of the innovative theory, Chen Ziang practiced it personally and worked hard to create. He wrote 38 excellent works such as "Feelings of Encounter" and "Taiwan Song of Dengyouzhou", "wiping away the bad habits of the Six Dynasties" .

Chen Ziang's poems are rich in content, criticize the current ills, and care about the rise and fall of the country and the suffering of the people, which have strong practical significance.

It is not difficult to see that Chen Ziang's poems have washed away the traces of the Six Dynasties and become works with "a sudden mood and a sound of metal and stone". Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that Chen Ziang created a new style of poetry and became the "ancestor of poetry in the Tang Dynasty".
