Feng Zhi's short poem "I am a river"

As a poet, Feng Zhi is unfortunate because he was born in stormy China. However, he is extremely lucky-he read a lot of poems when he was a student; Feng Zhi, who caught up with the May 4th Movement, felt lonely, depressed and demanded progress under the influence of the late Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty. Inspired by the romantic poet Guo Moruo's work Goddess, he tried to write his own poems. His early poems present an upright intellectual soul who is serious about life, hates evil, yearns for light and pursues freedom, and the poet's desire to transcend worldly glory and superficial feelings.

The most beautiful youth has become attached to Peking University and has known each other for six years; He changed hands halfway, received orthodox German and German literature education, and was infatuated with western literature, especially Heine's works. He assiduously integrated China classical literature and western literature. With the gradual decline of the May 4th Movement, I finally published my debut "Song of Yesterday" on the occasion of 1927 graduation-to express the meaning of forgetting the past and welcoming a new life. And "I am a river" is selected from this lyric poetry collection.

The most striking thing about this poem is the contrasting images and deep colors.

The poet compares himself to "a small river", which itself has the characteristics of running endlessly and rushing forward like time. Soft Wave embodies the gentle and flowing characteristics of Little River. I compare you to a rose-colored cloud shadow, embrace it with soft waves, and weave the sad flower shadow among the flowers into a corolla. -Carola, gentle waves and various places are full of deep and sincere love and beauty. Then the pen turned and the river went straight ahead and ran into the sea. The sea is rough. The poet used the "sea breeze" to reflect the sinister environment-"blowing off the corolla and smashing the skirt", which shattered the precious love and beauty. However, the shadow of the rosy clouds itself is ethereal and will eventually disperse and disappear. That "you" and that lover, only imagined by Feng Zhi, will easily disappear, leaving only regret and sadness. At the same time, when the poetic style changes, the color of poetry changes from warm colors such as "colorful clouds", "colorful flowers" and "elegant yellow waves" to Leng Yan colors such as "blue sea", which constantly changes with the change of images. The changeable tone is like a prism, which reflects all aspects of poetry and combines the "color beauty" and "artistic beauty" of poetry properly.

In this poem, even though many images are used, in a word, Feng Zhi melts all his beautiful feelings into the images of "I" and "you". The poet appears in the image of "I", and correspondingly, he is accompanied by "you". "I" pursue "you" with attachment and express my loyalty to "you" in various ways; But "you" are always so reserved, so shy and at arm's length. This attitude has brought endless anguish and troubles to "me". "I" asked, "You" never answered; But no matter how "you" are, "I" will always love you, even if I suffer setbacks. But "you" is a very illusory image, which makes the meaning of love in the poem hazy. Just like a woman in the middle of the water, there is an erratic and elusive color, which gives people a confusing aesthetic feeling. Feng Zhi's youth is burning in the pursuit of love and painful torture, and his songs repeatedly lament in front of his imaginary objects ... all kinds of subtle and complicated feelings flow to the pen and condense into warm and melancholy love poems that sing three sighs.

This love poem is the product of the May 4th Movement, which shows the "warm and sad" mood that Mr. Lu Xun once said, and was generally held by young people in China at that time. They expect to be young people with rich personalities and adequate lives, resist arranged marriages, look forward to beautiful love, and carefully pursue unattainable happiness in the shadow of feudal forces. The tone of the whole poem is tragic, and the expectation contrasts with reality, surpassing the pessimism of the times, such as Feng Zhi's "rosy clouds are gone" in this poem, which has become an important reason for young people's mental depression. Therefore, the poet endowed the images in his poems with the consciousness of the May 4th youth group, expressing the helplessness of "although he has awakened, he has not broken through his personal circle and is wandering on the wrong road".

The river is flowing. Like the river, young people have the courage to run and the right to pursue the love they want.

And this poem, as the expression of young people's voices, will never die.
