The Origin of Kaidu River
Kaidu River, called Kaidu Gole in Mongolian, originated from Alming Mountain in Tianshan Mountain. There are large and small Jules River in the upper source, which flows in the Yurdus basin rich in aquatic plants and meets in the west of Yanqi Hui Autonomous County. It is called Kaidu River, which flows to Bosten Lake in the southeast, with a total length of 530 kilometers and an annual runoff of 3.38 billion cubic meters. This river is the legendary "Tongtian River" in the mythical novel The Journey to the West. According to legend, the "Sun Jing Island" where the Tang Priest learned Buddhist scriptures is located in Hejing County and is full of mystery. The national famous Bayinbuluke Swan Lake Reserve is located in the alpine basin in the upper reaches of this river. In spring, the willows on both sides of the strait grow new and the grass is lush, which is a good time to go for an outing. In summer, there are lush trees on both sides of the strait, green water and Ying Ying, and water and sky are the same. Pieces of sandbars are embedded in the blue waves like jadeite. Shrubs and grasses are densely clustered on the sandbars, and birds are falling and singing, which is full of fun. This is a good place to relax in summer. In winter, Kaidu River has become a natural "skating rink". Men, women and children who like skating move in groups, and the ice is steaming. The mouth of Kaidu River into Bosten Lake is called Dahekou, which is an important part of Bosten Lake Scenic Area, a national 5A scenic spot.
