Song of Seven Sons was written by Wen Yiduo on 1925 and published in Modern Review. Wen Yiduo compared these seven places to children, and the poet compared these seven "lost lands" to seven children far away from their mother's arms, crying in their children's voices about their strong feelings of being forced to leave their mother's infancy, being bullied by foreigners and longing to return to her mother's arms.

Creation background
It was in the first half of the 1920s that Wen Yiduo, who had just graduated from Tsinghua University, crossed the ocean to study in the United States. Since 1922, he has studied fine arts at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, the University of Colorado in Kequan and the new york Art Institute successively, and has continuously devoted a lot of energy to the creation of new poetry and literary research that started several years ago.
Living alone in a foreign country, Wen Yiduo has a deep attachment to his motherland and hometown; In the western "civilized" society, I personally experienced the humiliation of many racial discrimination and aroused a strong sense of national pride. It is against this background that Wen Yiduo created many patriotic and homesick works, such as Song of Seven Sons.
