On the Abnormal Death of Ancient Literati

Wang Bo in the early Tang Dynasty

Wang Bo (650-676) was born in Longmen, Jiangzhou (now Hejin, Shaanxi). Poets in the early Tang Dynasty, together with Yang Jiong, Lu and Luo, were called "four outstanding poets in the early Tang Dynasty".

Wang Bo is arrogant and often offends others. Shortly after joining the army, he was dismissed for something. Therefore, my father was demoted to county magistrate. When Wang Bo went to visit his father, he crossed the ocean and drowned (after drowning, he was scared to death), only to live in his twenties. Many people engaged in fishing and sailing mourn Wang Bo, honoring him as the Narcissus King, which is enshrined in ships, ports and rivers.

Nan Tang Li Yu

After fifteen years in office, he was called Li Houzhu and the Queen of Southern Tang Dynasty. In 975, the city was broken, and the queen came out naked, and was taken to Bianjing, where she was sealed by a letter. Emperor Taizong ascended the throne and became the Duke of Longxi County.

According to Wang Luo's memoirs in the Song Dynasty, Li Yu was finally poisoned by Song Taizong for writing such words as "The old country is unbearable to look back on" and "A river flows eastward".

Wen Tianxiang in Southern Song Dynasty

Wen Tianxiang (1236— 1283) was born in Luling, Jizhou (now Ji 'an, Jiangxi), formerly known as Sun Yun.

1283, suddenly attacked by the Yuan Army in Wupoling, Haifeng North, defeated and captured. He was secretly killed because he didn't give in to the temptation of invading Yuan soldiers.

Yuan Chonghuan in Ming Dynasty

Ming Sizong (1610-1644) arrested Yuan Chonghuan in early December of the second year of Chongzhen (1629). After half a year's imprisonment and trial, Yuan Chonghuan was executed.

The legendary Emperor Taizong of the Qing Dynasty, Huang Taiji (1592- 1643), arrested two eunuchs with double spies in the Ming Dynasty, and then deliberately made them think that they had heard the secret language between Manchu generals, saying that Yuan Chonghuan had a secret agreement with Manchu, and Huang Taiji asked one of them to return to Beijing. Ming Sizong gets the recruit, thinking that Yuan Chonghuan rebelled; Some scholars, such as Yan Chongnian, tend to think that Ming Sizong killed Yuan Chonghuan because of the imperial eunuch's frame-up, and Huang Taiji's double spy was only the reason why Yuan Chonghuan was imprisoned.
