Icelandic religious poetry

Text/Wandering A Zi

There are hundreds of churches scattered in a small Iceland. I don't know if Icelanders are particularly religious or just like beautiful churches. There are so many churches, and each church is designed with distinctive features and looks good. Of course, the most famous is Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik, the capital.

Hargham Cathedral is one of the tallest buildings in Iceland. Because of its novel design and organ structure, it has become a landmark building in Reykjavik. Iceland is vast and sparsely populated, so it doesn't need high-rise buildings, and its capital is not big. Almost all visitors to the Icelandic capital will come to this church for a walk. Otherwise, in other corners of the capital, you can see this cathedral with special shape and you won't admit your mistake. It can be said that almost everyone who has been to Iceland has seen this church.

Hallgrimes Cathedral not only has a sense of design in appearance, but also is not sloppy in interior. The lighting is good, the whole is bright, and every detail is exquisite. You can see tourists from all over the world here. Some people walk around, some stop to watch, some sit down and meditate, and some talk softly. Everyone explores the church in their own way and does not interfere with each other.

There will also be tour groups to visit here. I think they will explain it outside and won't disturb other tourists inside. At first glance, I think this church looks like a rocket. I wonder if it was inspired by the same design as the rocket. My sister said it didn't feel like a rocket, but she couldn't tell what it looked like. Finally, she just said it looked like a church. There is a statue in front of the church, which is said to be the father of Iceland's independence. We don't care too much about these histories, so we don't care too much about this statue, just think it looks good in the picture.

Visiting the church 1 floor is free of charge. But if you want to go to the top floor, you need to buy a ticket to take the elevator. Some of our fellow travelers want to go up and have a look, others just want to have a rest, so let's split up. Those who want to go upstairs buy tickets, and those who want to rest sit in the church and rest. I didn't go upstairs because I wanted to feel the church. Sitting in the church is comfortable, cool, neither too cold nor too hot. I have no religious belief, but I can still feel calm when I sit there thinking nothing.

My friend took the elevator to the church steeple. She said that the scenery is very good, overlooking the open panoramic view of the urban area, the lovely Nordic colored roof and the beautiful mountains and bays not far away. In fact, there are no tall buildings blocking the view in Iceland. No matter where in the city center, people can see the towering cross at the top of the church. Relatively speaking, at the top of the church, they can also see the panoramic view of the city center. There is a bird's eye view above the elevator, which can see part of the scenery that can only be seen after going upstairs, attracting tourists to go upstairs to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

We had a rest, talked in a low voice, and got up and left the church when we saw our friend coming downstairs. When I walked out of the gate, I found that even the shape on the door was very special. The heavy door is a three-dimensional pattern, which feels very textured. Many foreign churches are very powerful, and many details can be seen by careful design, and there will be no sloppy places.

After walking out of the church, we still don't want to look back at this particularly beautiful church. On this day, I don't know whether it is good weather or bad weather. When the sky is overcast, a small piece of blue sky appears from time to time, and it may rain the next second. I have been in Iceland for more than ten days, and I am used to such weather transients. I took a deep breath and felt that the fresh air was full of sadness. Our trip to Iceland is coming to an end in the capital. Although we are a little homesick, we are even more reluctant to part. I always feel I don't know enough about this place.
