Wengjuan;
The mountains are green and the rivers are white, and the rain is like smoke in the sound of the rules.
In April in the countryside, there are few idle people, so they are planting sericulture and planting fields.
Four Seasons Pastoral Excitement (Part 25)
[Song Dynasty] Fan Chengda
The plums are golden and the apricots are fat, and the wheat flowers, snow and white cauliflower are sparse.
No one passes by the fence during the long day, only dragonflies and butterflies fly.
Wengjuan uses line drawing to describe the scene of early summer in the Jiangnan countryside (today's Danxi Town, Yueqing City). The first two sentences focus on the scenery: Green Plains, Baichuan, Zigui, and Misty Rain. In just a few strokes, he describes the early summer of the water town. The unique scenery is outlined. The last two sentences describe people, and the picture mainly highlights the image of farmers planting rice in paddy fields, thus setting off the intensity and busyness of labor in "April in the Countryside". The former calls and the latter responds, intertwined into a brightly colored picture.
The first two sentences of Fan Chengda describe the scene, with golden plums and snow-white wheat flowers; fat apricots and sparse cauliflowers. The four adjectives "yellow, white, fat, and thin" combined together make people think of the picture of all things growing vigorously.
The last two sentences use the fluttering of dragonflies and butterflies to set off the tranquility of the village, and write from the side that farming is busy in early summer, so pedestrians are rare. The beauty of the poem lies in the last two lines. The painting leaves a blank space, and the poem has hidden meanings. It depicts the quiet and leisure atmosphere of rural life, leaving an endless aftertaste.
So, the last two sentences of these two poems are poetically connected. They all describe the busyness of spring plowing in the countryside in April.
