Lu (632-695) was a poet in the Tang Dynasty. The word "Youyouzi" originated in Fanyang, Youyou (now Zhuozhou, Hebei Province). As one of the "Four Masters in Early Tang Dynasty", his literary works are as famous as Wang Bo, Yang Jiong and Robin.
His masterpiece "Ancient Meaning of Chang 'an" expresses the present situation with ancient meaning, showing the broad picture of Chang 'an social life at that time. By describing the living conditions of the rich and powerful classes, he expressed his loneliness that his talents could not be satisfied, thus revealing his philosophy of life that things are impermanent and prosperity cannot last long. Expressed his love and yearning for a better life.
This poem is bold and unrestrained, rich but not flashy. It is a famous work in the early Tang Dynasty, but it still has the influence of the poetic style of the Six Dynasties.
Lu is learned and educated, but his career is not smooth and his life is miserable. He used to be the official seal of Li Yuanyu, the king of Deng, and was appreciated and promoted to a surname. Later, trapped by rheumatism, he resigned and lived in seclusion in Taibai Mountain, where he received careful treatment from Sun Simiao, a famous Chinese medicine practitioner at that time.
About Lu's wind joint pain, one said it was polio, and the other said it was imprisonment for offending Wu Zetian's nephew Wu Sansi, because there is a poem in Chang 'an's ancient meaning that "Liang Jia's painting pavilion rises from the sky, and the golden stems of Han Emperor are straight outside the clouds". After he was released from prison, he was infected with wind disease, and then he was poisoned by taking Dan medicine, and his hands and feet were disabled.
Either way, Lu was finally trapped and tired by the disease, and finally committed suicide because of the torture of the disease, but this is a unified statement.
Lu is good at parallel prose in poetry. His poetic style is the best and he has a clear artistic conception. The fate of poverty and illness always makes his poetry style feel sad and angry.
According to the Book of the New Tang Dynasty, Yang Jiong once said that "taking Lu as the former shame and the empress as the latter shame" in the ranking of the four outstanding figures, Yang Jiong, Lu and Luo in the early Tang Dynasty. Although there is personal injustice, we can also get a glimpse of Lu's artistic level.
In the book "Poetry" edited by Hu Yinglin in the Ming Dynasty, there are many main lines of Lu and Luo, which are extremely lacking in style. As for the legal arrangement, it is even more self-defeating.
In addition to the ancient meaning of Chang 'an, Lu also has famous works such as Zi Ji, Watching Lights at Fifteen Nights, and Looking at the Qin Terrace to Remember the Yuan Day. His poetry collections include Lu Sheng Ji and Mourning for the Past Ji annotated by Zhang Xie in Ming Dynasty.
Zi Mazi is a frontier poem. Like the early frontier fortress Yuefu, Lu also wrote poems with fragments of scenery, which were roughly arranged in chronological order. However, compared with the earlier Yuefu of the same name, this poem is more violent and dramatic. At the end of the poem, by showing the courage and tenacity of the horse, it is strongly demonstrated that the position will never be conquered and the blood of the horse will never dry up. The image of a warhorse is a symbol of frontier soldiers, and it is also the spiritual materialization of frontier soldiers who are brave in fighting and not afraid of sacrifice.
