How to appreciate Longfellow's Ode to Life? Pray for the great gods.

Henry wadsworth longfellow was an American poet in the 9th century. He studied in Europe in his early years, engaged in language and literature research, 1836 taught at Harvard, and 1839 published his first book of poetry, Night Song. He is rich in works all his life, famous for his lyric poems and ballads, and enjoys the reputation of "the flower of American pastoral". Most of the subjects are daily life, natural landscapes, folk stories, and some involve major social issues. His major works include: Poetry and Others, Poetic Drama of Christ Trilogy, Long Narrative Poem Ivan Jilin, Song of Warsaw, The Proposal of Miles standish, etc. 1839 longfellow's psalm of life, published anonymously, is the vigorous development stage of American capitalism. With full and strong passion and optimistic attitude, it sang the love for life and the pursuit of a better life, affirmed the positive attitude towards life, criticized the dreamy pessimism about life, and was full of strong appeal. This spirit is closely connected with the pulse of the times at that time, so it is praised by most people as "the real beating of the American heart." John Greenleaf Whittier, a famous poet at that time, read this poem and exclaimed, "We don't know who the author is, but he (she) is by no means an idle person. These nine simple poems are more valuable than all the dreams of Shelley, Keats and Wordsworth combined. This poem is breathing and full of the spirit of our times today-it is a spiritual steam engine of a promising century. " Whether this comment is objective or not, at least we can see the sensation caused by this poem at that time. This poem has four sentences and one section, a total of 36 sentences, divided into nine sections. The first and second sections clearly point out that "life is real, life is not empty" in view of the decadent argument that "life is like a dream". The third, fourth, fifth and sixth sections further point out that since life is not a dream, we should seize the opportunity to do it and act. The seventh and eighth sections inspire people with the example of great men, leaving footprints on the "beach of time" in order to inspire others. The last section summarizes the whole poem in a more passionate tone, echoing from beginning to end, and ends the whole poem with the strong voice of "continuous harvest and continuous pursuit" Ode to Life is the first poem translated into Chinese by the west, which was first translated by Dong Yao, a senior minister of the Ministry of Finance in Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty, in the form of a seven-character poem. Since then, many new versions have appeared, including old version, new version, metrical version and free version, which are widely spread in China. Although not known to all women and children, it is also quite famous. People who know a little about western literature probably don't. The reason why this poem is so popular is inseparable from its optimistic ideological content and skillful and perfect expression skills. The rhythm is lively, the rhyme is natural and catchy, which is suitable for most people to enjoy.
