Zhong Rong, a native of Yingchuan Changshe (now west of Changge County, Henan Province), was an outstanding literary theorist and critic in the Qi and Liang Dynasties in China. Born in the fourth year of Taishi Emperor in the Song and Ming Dynasties (468), he died in the seventeenth year of Tian Jian (5 18). In the Qi Dynasty, the official arrived at Situhang to join the army and enter the beam. He served as the commander of China Linchuan Army and the Western Shanxi Army. Shi Pin is his monograph on poetry criticism, which is mainly composed of five-character poems.
Writing characteristics
Zhong Rong commented on the artistic characteristics and styles of writers in the past dynasties in the Preface, but also put forward his own views on some theoretical problems in poetry creation and the common abuses in poetry circles at that time.
He opposed the fashion of "following the nature" and "being accurate and not relying on people" at that time and put forward a systematic evaluation of poetry. Its appearance is closely related to the development of poetry creation at that time, speaking freely and the social fashion of the first character.
