Jian'an is the reign name of Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty. The Jian'an period in literary history generally refers to the period from Jian'an to the early Wei Dynasty, that is, 196-220 AD. Poetry is the most notable achievement of Jian'an literature. Many works in this period draw inspiration from Han Yuefu folk songs, which can reflect the social turmoil and the pain of people's displacement at that time, and embody the desire and ideal for national stability and unity. As Liu Xie said in "Wen Xin Diao Long·Chronology": "Looking at the literature of the time, it is elegant and generous, good things are accumulated in the world, chaos and dissociation, the decline of customs and resentment, and the ambition is deep and the pen is long, so it is generous and full of energy.
