Brief introduction of Xu Ling's ancient poets

Xu Ling (507 ~ 583) was born in Tancheng, Donghai, the son of Xu Jia. Literati between Liang and Chen in Southern Dynasties. He was famous for his poems in his early years. At the age of eight, he could read; At the age of twelve, he knew Zhuangzi and When I Grow Up, I am rich in historical records and eloquent. During Liang Wudi's time, he held a bachelor's degree in the East Palace and frequented the Forbidden City. He was a palace poet at that time, as well as Guo Maoqian and Yu Xu. After entering Chen, he continued to write palace poems, all of which are famous for their beauty and lightness. In the first year of Zhide, he died at the age of 77 and was presented to General Zhen Xuan and Special King. His attendants, Zuo Guanglu, advocate, and Hou remain unchanged. There are four sons: Xu Jian, Fen Xu, Xu Yi and Xu Xian.

When Xu Ling was young, she was known as the stone unicorn in the sky and contemporary Yan Hui. His family members are very upright, serious, sincere and humble. In 569 AD, he participated in the deposing of Chen Bozong and helped to establish Chen as the marquis of Jianchang. The emperor asked him to be the left servant of Shangshu and the official minister. He refused many times and the emperor was moved. Later, the court decided on the commander-in-chief of the Northern Expedition Army, and it was he who kept his promise, denied the purity recommended by many people and recommended a more suitable famous soldier Wu Mingche to lead the team, which proved to be correct. The emperor praised him many times for his unique vision, knowing people and being good at his duties. His poems and collections of poems were collected by everyone at that time.

Xu Ling's great-grandfather Xu Pingdao, his grandfather Xu Chaozhi and his father Xu Biao are all famous. His younger brother Xu Xiaoke and his four sons are excellent literary and artistic generalists, especially poetry and prose. His family has been in politics and literature for a hundred years, and his family background is prominent. After Xu Ling's death, the eldest son Xu Jian inherited his father Marquis. At that time, Xu Jian was an official under the king of Poyang, and also held positions in Xunyang literature and history. From then on, he served as the marquis of Jianchang until his death in the second year (AD 588) after five years in Zhenming.
