The Development of Metaphysical Poetry

Due to different tastes, the works of Dunn and his successors were ignored in the18th century and the early19th century. However, at the end of 19 and the beginning of the 20th century, more and more people began to favor the works of Dunn and other metaphysical poets. This new understanding of Dunn is due to people's awareness of the seriousness of their artistic creation, and they are very interested in their rebellious spirit, their realism and their similarity with modern people's ideological interests. At the same time, it is also because the poet Dunn did create wonderful works. Eliot, John Lanson and Ellen Tate are all typical modern poets deeply influenced by metaphysics. /kloc-the classical poets in the 0/8th century paid attention to norms, while the romantic poets in the 0/9th century emphasized nature, and they all ignored the metaphysical poetry. At the beginning of the 20th century, British scholar Gleason compiled Poems of Donne (19 12) and Lyrics of Metaphysics in the 7th Century (192 1) successively, which aroused strong repercussions. Eliot, an American English poet and critic, is very popular. He pointed out that metaphysical poets are the model of "unifying thoughts and feelings" and "unifying sensibility". In 1930s, the "new criticism" was further studied, and the interest of British and American literary critics in metaphysics has not diminished. There are differences of opinion between them, but their basic attitude is affirmative.
