Thoughts:
When writing this devotional , suddenly felt that my words were very poor. Because I find that I really don’t know how to describe my feelings when reading this poem.
Although the author of this psalm is an unknown poet, he uses a very short length and extremely concise writing style to lift up the glory of God, so that the whole psalm is full of God’s majesty and transcendence, power and beauty!
The poet uses anthropomorphic writing to describe God, describing his majesty and power as clothes worn on his body. He also praised God for existing beyond the waters and beyond time. The most special thing is that unlike many psalms that praise God, which are mixed with prayers or supplications, this psalm is completely praising God without any personal supplications! Such pure praise is rare even in the Psalms.
In the actual life of believers, prayer is the most familiar and unfamiliar thing. It is something that everyone knows and no one knows. When I reflect on my own prayers, the majority of them are “supplying” or “confusing”, and I can probably talk endlessly about them. And this kind of pure prayer of praise is probably very insignificant. Even if I open my mouth, I don’t know what to say!
Isn’t the reason why the psalmist can so purely praise God’s glory and richness in all aspects because he already has a deep understanding of God? Isn’t it because he completely puts God as the center of his life?
Oh Lord, it turns out that the reason why I still don’t know how to praise You is because I still lack knowledge of You, and I still only heard about You. It’s also because I still have too many selfish desires in my heart, so I only care about pouring out my own sufferings and needs, so how can I have the time to admire your beauty and praise your beauty!
Prayer:
Lord, I open my heart to you. May you open my eyes so that I can see more of your beauty, so that my My mouth can praise You more, and You alone.
Amen!
