Content of the poem
I met a tourist in Hubei Province and went on a boat in Qutang. The gorge is deep and the moonlit night is bright, the river is quiet and the sky is blue.
The old custom of Bayu dance is the new sound of Shu string. I couldn't bear the bitter hatred, and burst into tears.

Appreciation
This is a typical farewell poem. The first couplet explains the place, events, and characters. The couplets turn to depict scenes, using the deep canyon on a bright moon night and the vast and lofty sky hanging above the still water of a river to express the farewell feeling. The neck couplet aggravates this feeling of separation through the contrast between the old custom dance of the hometown and the string music of Shu. The last couplet expresses one's feelings directly, and the feelings of separation are bluntly exposed and strengthened here, which is sad.
