Yuan Zhen's Poems of Mourning Goose

In July of the 4th year of Yuanhe (809), Yuan Zhen's original wife Wei Cong died at the age of 27. After Wei Cong's death, the poet wrote many sincere mourning poems. These three poems were written in the sixth year of Yuanhe, and Yuan Zhen was appointed as the supervisor of Dongtai. Later, they were included in the mourning works in the ninth volume of Changqing Collection of Yuanshi County. Yuan Zhen wrote thirty-three poems in memory of his dead wife, which shows the poet's deep affection.

The first song is a memory of Webster's life before his death. In the first two sentences, the poet used allusions to express Webster's intention to bow down and marry himself. "Xie Gong's least pity for five or seven women" refers to Xie Daowen, the favorite niece of Xie An, the prime minister of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, alluding to Webster's; During the Warring States period, the poor people in Qi State were metaphors of poets here. Be obedient is a concise summary of Webster's seven-year difficult marriage life with the poet. The middle four sentences describe the difficult situation after marriage, and at the same time vividly depict Webster's image of being virtuous and virtuous, full of affection. Nowadays, poets enjoy a generous salary, but they can't share it with their beloved wife. He can only express his affection for his beloved wife by paying homage to the dead and turning them over. The poet's regret is expressed in the last two sentences.

The second song follows the "past" of the previous song and continues to write "behind the past" to express nostalgia and sadness. Everyone has passed away, leaving only what was used in the past. When the poet saw it, he couldn't help thinking of people. Poets cling to their poor life in the past, starting with trivial things in life, leading to sadness, and finally ending with "white stone love", which makes their emotional expression more profound.

The third is the poet's self-injury experience. The sentence "I sit here alone and mourn for us" plays a connecting role: "Mourning for the monarch" is the summary of the first two poems, and "self-pity" leads to the following. In the second couplet, the poet compares himself with Deng You and Pan Yue. It sounds as if he has come out of the shadow of his wife's death. In fact, it is the poet's "self-pity" for his wife's death and childlessness, and his feelings are deep and sad. Finally, the poet said, I want to use a long widow to repay my wife's kindness in fighting herself before her death, so as to comfort myself. The poet's infatuation can be seen from this, which is embarrassing.

There are three pieces of "Regret for the Past", and a sad word runs through it. The feeling of sadness is like a long wind pushing waves, moving forward one by one. The first two songs are sad for each other, from life to death; The last song is sorry for myself, from now to the future. All three poems are written in "intimate children's language", with sincere feelings and heartfelt words.
