Why is poetry marginalized?

At a shallow level, we didn't have game consoles or computers in the past. So everything that can be read, such as poetry, is very valuable. In this era of rapid consumption, it is difficult to tolerate the deep consumption of poetry. From a deeper perspective, there are also some historical reasons for the deliberate marginalization of poetry. In the past, as we all know, the combativeness of poetry was the sharpest among many literary genres.

Our reading habits, especially the new generation, have almost lost the habit of deep reading. Look at the subways and buses now. Who is still reading newspapers and books? Almost everyone has a smart phone, plays games, brushes Weibo, or talks loudly. What I see abroad is that in public, almost everyone is reading quietly. We put too much emphasis on the economy, so that the collective fell into the materialized era. It is inevitable that poetry will become the edge of this era.
