First, there are two poems in "Reminiscence of the Bianhe River", the original text is:
One:
Ten thousand dragon boats carrying green silk to Yangzhou Never pay it back.
It should be that Tianjiao opened Bianshui River, and there are no mountains in more than a thousand miles.
Second:
This is the river that died in the Sui Dynasty, and it has been relying on Tongbo for thousands of miles to this day.
If there was no dragon boat incident in the Water Palace, wouldn’t Emperor Yu have much merit?
Second, annotations to the poem:
① Never return it to Yangzhou: Emperor Yang Guang of the Sui Dynasty was killed by his general Yu Wenji when he visited Yangzhou.
② Bianshui: the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
③The dragon boat incident in the Water Palace: the scenery of Emperor Yangzhou’s dragon boat ride in Yangzhou.
④***Yu’s merits: The author here affirms the positive significance of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, which can be compared with Dayu’s achievements in flood control.
Third, the translation of "Bianhe Nostalgia":
First: Countless dragon boats sailed among the green willows. None of these fleets carried them to Yangzhou and returned to Chang'an. . There are no mountains for more than a thousand miles here, so it should be naturally used for digging Bianshui River.
Second: It is said that the Sui Dynasty fell because of this river, and it is still flowing to this day. If it weren't for the dragon boat building at that time, (Yang Guang's) achievements would probably be comparable to those of Yu.
