Fan Zhongyan, the author of "Fisherman's Proud Autumn Thoughts", was from the Song Dynasty.
The scenery is different when autumn comes in the fortress, but the geese in Hengyang leave without paying attention. Sounds are heard from all sides, thousands of miles away, long smoke sets, the sun sets, and the lonely city closes.
A glass of dirty wine can lead to a home thousands of miles away, but there is no way for Yan Ran to return. The Qiang pipes are covered with frost, people can't sleep, and the general's hair is white and his husband is in tears.
Translation:
The scenery on the border is completely different when autumn comes, and the geese flying towards Hengyang show no nostalgia. The mournful sounds from the border areas came from all directions along with the sound of horns, in the overlapping mountain peaks.
The dusk is heavy, the sun is setting over the mountains, and the lonely city gate is tightly closed. Drinking a glass of old wine and remembering my hometown thousands of miles away, I have a lot of thoughts. I think of the injustice on the border, the unfinished achievements, and I don’t know when I can return to my hometown. The Qiang people's flutes played melodiously, and frost spread all over the earth. It was late at night, and the soldiers could not sleep peacefully. Both the generals and the soldiers had their hair dyed white by the frost and snow, so they had to cry silently.
Creative background:
From the first year of Kangding (1040) to the third year of Qingli (1043) in the Song Dynasty, the poet served as deputy economic envoy of Shaanxi Province and governor of Yanzhou. When he was guarding the northwest frontier, he gave strict orders and caressed the soldiers. He was deeply impressed by Xixia, who said that he had "tens of thousands of soldiers in his belly." This poem is his reflection on being in the military.
Since the establishment of the Song Dynasty, it has adopted a policy of emphasizing internal affairs over foreign affairs, tightened internal control, and stationed the imperial army throughout the country. However, it has long given up vigilance on the border and relaxed its armaments. In the first year of Baoyuan (AD 1038), Yuanhao of the Western Xia Dynasty proclaimed himself emperor. The Song Dynasty dispatched troops and generals and raised their voice to attack. However, things started to be hasty, and the generals did not know the soldiers, and the soldiers did not know how to fight, so that they were often defeated in every battle.
The poet moved to Yanzhou. After taking office, he strengthened military training and built fortifications around Yanzhou. He was always on the defensive and did not dare to attack easily. The situation in Yanzhou was temporarily stabilized. , as far as the entire situation is concerned, Yanzhou is still in isolation.
So the three words "the isolated city is closed" truly reflect the military situation at that time and reflect that the garrison strength of the Song Dynasty was very weak. As the city gate where the headquarters is located, it was closed as soon as the sun set, showing that the seriousness of the situation. This sentence foreshadows the lyricism of the next film.
